Hip Hop is far from destroyed, but I'd say that Suge Knight and Death Row Records monopolizing the mainstream hip hop artists in the 90s wasn't exactly helpful.

Oh, and Lil Wayne, Lil B, and Lil Jon. Pretty much any rapper whose name starts with "Lil" destroyed hip hop.

Hip Hop its not just a genre of music. It's a subculture. Everything I learned about Hip Hop was from watching the movie Beat Street. True Hip Hop, well to me anyways, was about originality and trend setting. From Break Dancing to Tagging to MCing. There are some out there but most hip hop artist just do it to make money.

Only artists I listen to are Wale, Drake, Kendrick Lamar, J Cole to some extent, and ASAP Rocky. I'm taking a break from hip hop until September when Drake's album releases cause it's in a very sad state right now. J Cole And Wale's albums were good ( haven't heard Jay Z's) but Kanye's Yeezus? So you listen to people like Drake but turn around a blame wayne, i know your not serious with this childish crap. first lets start here rap is hip-hop, hip-hop isn't rap, hip-hop has serveral categories that branches off into other stuff [ look it up cause i'm too tired from work to try and school you on something you should already know], rap it's self has different categories for example : Acid rap, trap rap, conscience rap, etc etc.
So to sit there and to blame lil wayne for something that you caused , yeah i said it you, the fans [ like Trilla has already stated] keep going to his concerts and paying for his crappy albums , cause last time i checked wayne has made some really amazing songs example: I'm go getta, shoot me down, i feel like dying, how to love, dear anne, misunderstood,self destruction, something you forgot etc etc. did anyone pay this songs any attention? no , did they get any air time? no, are they completely underrated songs by wayne? yes.
And if your wondering no i'm not that much into wayne anymore but i do hang wit Dizzy wright, Capital steez, Joey badass, Earl sweatshirt, Hodgy beats, Mac miller, and Asher roth. Look all i'm saying is enough of this damn blame game people enjoy doing for some D.A. reason.

My thoughts, exactly.

Saying Lil Wayne ruined Hip Hop is utterly ridiculous. As much as haters don't want to admit it, he was on top of the rap game at one point. Tha Carter III sells over a mil in a single week, The Carter IV sells 970k in a single week, while almost all of his other albums have gone gold. He's featured in well over 100 tracks by other artists, he's put out numerous classic mix tapes, and i'm not even going to mention all his nominations. But this guy "ruined hip hop" ? Naw fam.

And Lil Wayne has stated that music isn't his top priority anymore.
