This was an awful attack not only was it about race and political stances but the kid was disabled he was helpless and weak which makes this act even more disgusting i have witnessed this crap happen or heard about it back in my time in highschool i have stood up for disabled peoples i hope the heaviest penalty is given to these cowards not because he is white or a trump supporter but because he is disabled
It is true that the media would have been a shit storm had this been a black which needs to change right now Michele brown and Trevon martin had way more coverage then they were covering those story's hourly
There does need to be a new movement one that stands to end the violence and divide this is no longer a democratic thing or a republican thing this needs to be a usa objective

Because people get so much more butt hurt over it and there's really no point of classifying it as something else.
That makes sense now that I reflect on it. The only reason why I advocated for this incident to be considered a hate crime is because I wanted it to be held in the same regard as hate crimes committed against minority groups, to show that racism and discrimination is not limited to one race. But, being classified as a"hate crime" shouldnt be the reason why people should be upset about it and pay it attention.

They shouted "fugg white people" and "fugg Donald Trump" while doing this and yet I've seen on CNN people claiming this wasn't racially or politically motivated. A black guy even said that he doesn't think the perpetrators are evil.
Imagine a bunch of white Trump supporters doing the same with a handicaped black person. The media coverage would be overwhelming and cities would be burning.

Objectively the kid from sandy hook wasn't up for any hate crime charges, Neither is the guy from the colorado theater shooting.
Making what Roof did worse than what they did on the basis of intent is insane. I say again there is only crime no such thing as hate crime. There is only speech no such thing as hate speech. This isn't 1984
the law has no feeling. if its murder it's first degree murder. intent should have no bearing on the sentencing(unless intent was self preservation) we should just judge the act.

They should be up for hate crimes. Remember these are all different states, so it's not really confusing as to how not all of them got charged with hate crimes even though they didn't.
A hate crime is any crime where the intent was primarily based off sexual orientation, political views, skin color, gender, or age.

Neither of the two i mentioned targeted anyone on any basis but just killed people. The action is what breaks the law not the intent. Idagf what your intent was(self defense withstanding) if you kill people you're a murderer, if you hate them what difference does it make?

Dylan Roof had flags and pictures with racist images and motifs. He said he was trying to punish blacks and incite a race war that he wanted white people to win and expressed white supremacy views.
Regardless of whether or not you think it's necessary, it's a thing that exists.

what does that have to do with the crime he committed? Is it a crime to hate someone? Good job, detectives you solved the motive part of the crime. Now charge him with 9 murders and attempted murders for everyone in there he could have killed, and be done with it. The hate crime moniker is divisive and an un necessary attempt at further control by the government.

You sound ignorant as shit. A hate crime doesn't mean it's a crime to hate, a hate crime is when the primary motivation of the crime was based on hate, discrimination, or prejudice. I don't understand why you're trying to make something so very simple this difficult.

never said it was a crime to hate. I did say it was stupid to make it a deciding factor when the action is all that matters. If it isn't a crime to hate then what does it matter in sentencing?
