So, in some booming towns, specifically tech towns, housing prices are going through the roof. $100,000 homes rise to almost 1 million dollars.

This is threatening the existing residents because housing costs go up, the cost of living goes up, property taxes go up. Just imagine paying 5% for a million dollar house every year.

Why are they pissed? Because they are forced to change their life and possibly move away. Quiet neighborhoods are transformed to more “modern” landscapes.

How do you guys feel about this?

Should these tech hubs be made in new towns instead of taking over pre-existing towns? Let the invisible hand of capitalism do its job? As they say.

Side note, I remember hearing about this with poor and minority communities, most people said “they should just move after they sell their homes, make a profit”. Now it’s affecring the upper middle class. I wonder if change will come from this new trend.

It's interesting that, under national and local laws, much of the land around that town is unavailable for development. It kind of makes sense that with rising populations and severely restricted growth of housing (urban zoning laws and sewer concerns often limit apartment developments, as well - so both 'out' and 'up' are heavily restricted in most of the U.S. and Europe), the pricing of homes would increase. One must wonder why it is that such laws have been put in place, as if to place humanity into a cage.

Thats almost entirely the purpose, to keep people and businesses locked in the real estate loop. If they place limits on where and what we build "they "can allocate interest and focus to certain places and drive up land prices, building costs etc

Precisely.

When the people must spend the overwhelming majority of their income on the requirements to survive within a society, then the only institutions with free capital are the issuing authorities (banks and governments) and large businesses that can move accounts received and accounts payable to generate investment capital (or just ask the government for a gravy contract).

When such is the case, the economy is no longer determined by free people. Businesses do not service what you or I actually want, as we have no capital to interest them. Government or intra-corporate contracts drive economic and, to a disturbing degree, consumer product development. As all currency becomes fueled by public debt, any manner of loans or pet projects can be commissioned against the cost of living, invisibly and without vote, to include media productions designed to condition or agitate a population, rather than actually service their entertainment/intrigue demand. Consider.... would any business concerned about profits routinely insult its fan and customer bases... Star Wars, Thundercats Roar, Ghost Busters reboot, etc? A grotesque display intended to badger societies that, interestingly, society still hasn't figured out aren't about being entertaining or even the simple profit motive (which should have weeded out these directors and producers who bomb box offices into the red).

some really spooky shit to be honest, how they can make simple market demand into such a convoluted system meant to **** us even harder.

I’m disappointed that I finally made a thread about how white middle class people are being forced out by other young white upper middle class Americans and FOUNTAIN has not even commented.

But there was a little relevance to other issues of gentrification that can be assessed from his opinion. If it’s fine when it happens to poor+minorities, it’s fine when it happens to white families.
Spin, spin spin.
I hear Malaysia Airlines are in need of pilots. You should apply.
