Alright.

Whip arts is a type of TaiGenjutsu where the user focuses chakra into a whip and by striking the opponent with it inserts a small amount of chakra which disrupts the opponents chakra flow and places them under a genjutsu. The con of this style is that the whip hits cannot be too strong as the pain would stop the genjutsu from taking effect. The pro of it is that the user can increase the range of his genjutsu by using whips.

I don't really know the types of whips. I know it was originally used to guide livestock but it can be used as a weapon to hurt or bind the opponent. It has a handle and a long, leathery "string" which does the damage.

Short but a good explanation. As for the different types of whips. The most widely know are bull whips (the one Indiana Jones uses) and horse riding whips.

Now, to get started I'd like you to his those can's over there

*Points to a row of 20 cans, all set apart with a distance of 20 cm*

You are going to hit those, with the whip only, one by one. You hit two or more at the same time, you set them all straight and start again, savvy?
One thing more thing, whip movements are mainly made by the use of the wrist, so try only using your wrist. In the future it will give your opponent less time to react, because by the time they can react, the whip is already heading their way.

Got it.

Jiraya takes the bullwhip laying on the ground and tries it out a few times striking an imaginary foe. At first he uses his whole arm but then remembering what Yvette had told him, he puts in more wrist movement. After a few minutes he sees the motions are fluent and continuous so he places himself in a stance where he can easily use the whip and target the cans properly. He takes aim at the first can, sends his arm back for momentum and flicks his wrist sending the long tail of the whip forwards at the first can. The tip of the whip bounces off and strikes the second can, knocking it over as well. Jiraya makes a grimace and rushes to set up the cans once more. Taking his old position he starts over, repeating the motions on every can, every time being faster and more precise with the whip. After a long hour of failures and repeating he finally manages to knock down all cans.

As you now know what's going on, we're going to use the whip and genjutsu at the same time. As said before, Hoippu Geijutsu uses a whip as a medium to place opponent under a genjutsu. Most of the time they will be subtle so that the opponent will have a difficult time realising he is under a genjutsu, giving the used a advantage in battle.

For now there are two technique's I can teach, and we start with the first one. I don't really see the use on 'preforming' it, so tell me the advantage's and disadvantage's of the technique and how you would use it in battle and any other thing you might be useful to note/say/ask.

(Hoippu Geijutsu: Akuma no ikari) | Whip Arts: Devils Rage
Type: Attack
Rank: B
Range: Short-Mid
Chakra: 30
Damage: 60
Description: The user will move the whip around his body while channelling his chakra trough the whip. As the whip hits the opponent, a small amount of chakra of the users chakra will disrupt the opponent’s chakra flow, putting him under a subtle genjutsu B-Rank jutsu where he will feel a burning pain coming from the muscle's that are near the hit point. This pain will increase over the next 2 turns, if not broken out from the Genjutsu, until the opponent has the feeling that pain is too much, and can't use the hit limb any more, until broken out of the genjutsu.
Note: Requires Hoippu Geijutsu training
Note: Can only be taught by -Severus Snape-

Advantages:
Since the user is using a whip there is almost no way they will notice it's a genjutsu. It's subtle, almost normal. The pain would after time render the arm/body part useless. There is nothing that can lead to the conclusion it's a genjutsu. It's discrete and powerful.

Disadvantages:
High chakra cost I guess, don't see any other disadvantages.

Question, can I increase the range of my genjutsu when using a whip? Can I use any genjutsu with the whip or only the ones bound to the style?

No, you can't increase the range using the whip. As for different genjutsu's, I'd say it depends on the technique, if you have a genjutsu that is triggered by sound or movement I'd say you would be able to use the whip as a medium, as long as it doesn't specify a specific movement or sound to induce the genjutsu.
Also, a disadvantage of it is that it must come into contact with the opponent to take effect.

If you got no other questions we'll go on to the next one.

(Hoippu Geijutsu: Indiana no Hanketsu ) | Whip Arts: Indiana's Judgement
Type: Attack/Defensive
Rank: S
Range: Short-Mid
Chakra: 40
Damage: 80
Description: This technique is the ultimate defence of a Whip Art Master. The user will spin his whip, while focusing chakra in it, rapidly around his body, creating an impenetrable dome around him. While moving creating the dome, the sound will trigger a genjutsu upon the opponent. The genjutsu itself if simple, instead of seeing the user moving around his whip constantly, the opponent will only see the whip being moved around once before the user seemed to rest the whip again by his side, while standing in the same position. In reality, the user will continue the move the whip around while moving forwards, and as the user comes within hitting distance from the opponent, he will flick the whip forwards and catch the opponent around the neck, effectively strangling or killing them, depending on the kind of whip the user carries.
Note: Can only be user twice per battle
Note: Can deflect any B-Rank or lower Elemental technique's, but the technique is broken
Note: Can deflect any A-Rank or lower Taijutsu and Kenjutsu technique's (except EIG technique's)
Note: The genjutsu breaks the moment the whip stops moving.
Note: Requires Hoippu Geijutsu training
Note: Can only be taught by -Severus Snape-

I take my whip out and focus chakra into it while spinning it. The whistling sound of the spinning induces a genjutsu upon the clone present on the field making it seem as if I moved the whip once at him and then did something else. In reality I continue towards the clone with rapid steps, at a tempo where I can keep the whip constantly spinning around me. As soon as I close in on the clone, I flick the whip towards him coiling it around it's neck and pull it hard begining to strangle the clone and making him struggle for air.

Advantages are the good defenses, and the ability to put the opponent into a genjutsu through the sound.

Disadvantage is that the user has spin the whip constantly and move slowly to keep it rotating.

I have a few questions:

1. After I start spinning, what exactly does the opponent see in the illusion? Can I freestyle or does he see the whip fly once and that's it?
2. If I use this to defend from a technique can I continue spinning to create the genjutsu or do I have to choose: genjutsu or defense?

Cool, same as before, advantages/disadvantages, how you'd use it etc etc.

(Hoippu Geijutsu: Surīpu Byūtī) Whip Arts: Sleeping Beauty
Type: Offensive
Rank: B-Rank
Range: Short
Chakra: 20
Damage: 40
Description: The user cracks his whip towards the opponent and hit him diagonally over the chest (or any other body part that comes in its way). Upon the physical contact, a small amount of the users chakra will go trough the whip, into the opponents body, placing him under a B-Ranked genjutsu. A turn after being hit by the whip, the opponent will start to feel a slight tingling where he is hit, and this tingling feeling will spread over the next two turns until his uppe/lover body is completly numb, depending on where being hit. This numb feeling will continue until the opponent dispels the genjutsu he is placed in.
