I felt that Sasuke's story was the saddest.
He lived in a "good" environment, surrounded by a sympathetic mother who cared for him and a caring older brother. His father was more strict with him but in time, began to appreciate Sasuke when Sasuke mastered (Katon Goukakyuu no Jutsu). Just when everything in his life was going great his life came crumbling down, as the brother whom he thought was caring, murdered his whole clans. Hell, Sasuke even saw his parents dead body on the floor. Itachi told him to get strong enough to kill him one day, so Sasuke did just that. He trained to become stronger and although he was lonely, he made bonds with Team 7, specifically Naruto. As much as a probably wanted to remain in Konoha, he knew that he needed power to bring down Itachi, so he had to leave his friends behind.
Once he defeated Itachi, he thought he had truly avenged the Uchiha Clan. However, it turns out that Itachi was forced to do it, because the Uchiha were planning a coup de'tat against Konoha. Madara told Sasuke that Itachi truly cared for him and so he spared him. So, Sasuke after losing the last person in the world that cared for him (besides Naruto and Sakura) lost it and went all psycho.
That's pretty sad to me, the boy was stripped of family and had to grow up lonely, with hate towards his brother.
i agree with everything hereI think the saddest was that Naruto's parent's weren't with him for the most part of his life.
The most sad episodes I remember are...
When Choji comes close to dying in the Sasuke Retrieval Arc.
During the Chuunin Exams in Garaa vs Lee. When Gai steps in to save Lee. And then when he finds out Lee can't be a ninja anymore. That was heart wrenching.
When Lady Chiyo dies.
When Jiraiya-sama dies and Naruto finds out.
When Hiruzen Sarutobi dies.
When Asuma dies and Shikamaru deals with the loss.
Tbh, I don't have much sympathy for Itachi's story and Sasuke. I would like it but Sasuke ruined it by going against his wishes. Other than that all I can say is that was a big burden he carried and no one could have dealt with it with as much grace as him.
