Because he never had goals of his own until the epilogue. Zuko hit his self realization in the middle of season 3 or at the end of season 2.



you're right. Other animies are nowhere near as good as legend of korra. It's not even close.
For me it was the villains. I think LoK had some of the most memorable villains to date, even they received some good development.

Yeah i think that's the switch between the two series.

The last airbender had more memorable main cast but the villains (bar azula) was run of the mill
Legend of korra on the other hand had amazing villains, and a average(mako) to above average(korra asami bolin) main cast.

Both shows get high marks from me, and the topics they tackle without giving a cookie cutter resolution is pretty amazing compared to the typical ("we are nakama" i see in shounen)

comparing that shit with complex anime/manga series lolz even garbage as sao is better than 80% of them and the only good western animated work is samurai jack

Durarara does a pretty good job but that's cuz of how the storyline is structured non linearly. In terms of traditional storyline type anime my personal pick would be aot
