which Konoha rookie had teh most potential to become an akatsuki member?

Really? I don't think so, her main assets wouldn't really be beneficial for him. Like healing. Kakuzu or Deidara I think would make better teams.

lee if tsunade the miracle worker never appeared, would've abandoned gai, konoha and inevitably by the power of plot runs into pain. gives him empathy of the struggles lee been through with the lack of ninjutsu and broken legs yet impressed he could do the gates. so he takes him in, tobi (obito) gives him zetsu cells to replace his old limbs. then lee overtime master all 8gates without dying :lol due to senju dna (it answers everything)
