they (FB and STH) are overrated an overplayed songs. the key differnce being that led zepplin has good music besides that song and l. skynnrd does not.

and quality wise i could name countless songs better than STH

Charts saying it good does not make it good.
Being able to be played backwards doesn't make it good either.
It's a basic chord progression, with a simple picking juxtaposed against it. It's catchy which is why people are so drawn to it.

i love the fact that what you're saying can be applied to virtually any kinda music. how many people know that pac has other songs besides hit em up or california love.. lol. how many of today's rap songs concentrate on catchy hooks, rather than the lyricism of the verses.

as for the chords, that goes for basically any song you just add a famous riff and a solo and ...
and i believe to write and record a song so that it can be played backwards is pretty amazing

If lyrics are what you like, have you ever listened to Dylan? He is one of the best lyricists to have ever lived.
the chords thing is not for every song. there are many artist who use innovative progressions. these artists don't require a "famous riff and a solo" to solidify the musical aspect of their song.
Why would that be a good thing? Did they ever sing it backwards at a show? Coincidence like that occurs, such as Darks Side of the Moon and the Wizard of Oz (if you haven't heard about this just google it.)

Dylan's lyrics hooked me, but his manner of guitar, simplistic with lovely and bending melodies (despite his voice sometime) have solidified him as a classic.

LZ lyrics are much more than their reference to LOTR. I would hope that was merely an exaggeration and your love of LOTR has not influenced how you rate Led's lyrics.

well I am 17 and I started to listen to LZ about 5 years ago and I admit that at first it was because of the references to the book but later i just grew to love their style and now its been my fav band for quite some time

for dylans work i dont much care for the guitar though it gives his messages a nice tone and since the lyrics are the most important part i love his whole songs XD
