[Question] Which is harder to be: Pirate or Marine?

Which role in OP do believe is harder: being a Pirate or a Marine? ​

I'd have to go with being a Marine personally. My reasons:

- Considering that you can just become a pirate and go in hiding forever, with being a marines taking jobs whether your up for it or not.​

- You will always be taking orders.

- Going up that rank ladder would be hard work, whereas a pirate could just attack civilans and become notorious.

I will go with Marine. Pirates have a carefree life that is until they are caught.

Well a marine because you need to go through training and they need to check your background to see if you had anything to do with pirates.. but being a pirate is easy you just need a jolly roger, a boat not even a ship, and just get some friends to tag along.... so yeah its harder to be a Marine.

I think both is quite hard, because you have different obstacles in your way.

Marines - Most marines aspire to be one of the high ranking officials, but lets be honest, to become one of the Vice-Admirals or even an Admiral is for most marines an impossible task.

Pirates - Most pirates (especially in One Piece) want to become the Pirate King, thus making you an enemy of the Marines as well as all the other Pirates. Then when you actually get noticed, you cannot become the Pirate King if you don't defeat the Yonkos. So basically, if you are not Monkey D. Luffy, then you have no hope.

So it it tough either way, but I still voted for the Marines.

I'll go with a pirates.
Pirates always have to run away from Marines, especially from a higher ranked ones - Admirals.
My 2nd point would be the same as Uchiha's Usman you always have to obey your captains orders.
Imo, it is harder to be a pirate until you reach sth, for example a Yonko title.
After pirates reach sth, it is a lot easier to live on.

Marines secure peace and enforce justice. Pirates either look for adventure or amass treasure.

If say a guy hung a pirate flag on a small boat today and another was succesfully enlisted into the marines and they mate a year later and recalled their time each, I think the Pirate wld have gone thru lots coz for him there was no safe haven or period coz he faces pirates and marines(and most of the time a ship is under command of a captain) so while he is free to do whatever whenever he also faces seasoned fighters who want to arrest or take his head off not to mention probability to starve or die of disease is much higher for him than that of a marine who is guaranteed good food and a no real danger period of time when he is still in training.
A 10 mile hike is hard but I think a pirate fleeing from Smoker has the time to think of how hard he's being pushed just "I hope I dont die".

depends on what type of ''team'' your in

happy go lucky captain/reverred badass captains such as luffy and shanks, then you would probably enjoy being a pirate and hence find it easier


have a captain that doesn't give a ''two'' about you just the cause such as Akainu, then you would probably find it hard


again depends on the personality

Being a Pirate is harder when it comes to surviving . But marine is harder when it comes to ideals .(you just follow rules)

I couldn't be either in all honesty.
With one you are stuck to another persons rules and ideals, which I would find hard, and with a pirate you would always be looking over your shoulder for the marines.
Neither a life being on the run or a life being controlled sounds appealing to me :/

Being a pirate is harder. Marines get all the training from their superiors whereas pirates are forced to become stronger on their own otherwise they'll get fodderised. Also they have to make sure that their crew is ready for anything. Being a pirate/Yonko in the NW is harder than being lets say an admiral.

Pirates by far. Marines are a bigger institution. Being a pirate you usually have your crew and everyone else save few friendly crews are enemies.

I say pirate. you have to watch out for other pirates, marines, and sea kings. no one likes you, so you can be assassinated (sniped) at random by civilians. have to find, loot, pillage your food and necessities .. albeit you can just pay for em. there's arguments either way.
