You can never have true peace there will always be battles between ideals some better then others or just for dominance war never changes but so doesn't peace war is hell and peace is heaven you have to have a taste of ether to know the true concept without war you can not desire peace without peace there is chaos

If they manage a centralized government it may stop nation wars but that central government will turn their military might on the people.

People will always have differing ideologies, morals etc. There will always be conflict between people for those reasons and also anyone that opposes the central government will be targeted by that power. I imagine there would be genocide on a level never before seen.
