There's not one definition, it's an abstract that we define. You can't say "this is what love is", because it takes many shapes and situations.

This is a very general statement that I don't think holds up when you examine how people actually interact. You can't suddenly not have a self. If love was selfless, everyone'd be the same in every relationship. But there are things about yourself that you have to hold important and not let go the wayside just because of love.

But maybe, since it's so general, I don't get what you mean.

There are tons of people who are completely selfless to their partner and end up getting treated like trash. How do you think abusive relationships even happen? But then again you thought gaara and Sakura was a good pairing lol Now selfless love is a form of the abstract, like most children get selfless love from the parent, most of the time it isn't two ways for a while though. But no, that's not the meaning of love, one maybe.
