I'd say Nami's village episode 30+, but for most people it's past episode 70, when they get to the first island on the Grand line.
You might want to skip fillers on your first "watch through"

Arlong Park I guess...not crazy epic but you get a taste. Lot of peeps say much later like Alabasta (anime), but I think that shit drags like hell. Avoid fillers ._.

Its best to read the manga. The anime adds in filler which lowers the quality and epicness of OP imo. Its in color too.

Arlong arc is one of the best arcs in One Piece.
luffy giving his hat to Nami and saying that he is going to kick Arlong butt was so awesome :sniff:

There are only 2-3 filler episodes per arc but not always... By the way yes after Alabasta gets way better.

For me after Alabasta which is around 120. Best anime/manga after that point.

It depends really, some get hooked instantly, for some it takes a while, some never get hooked. Basically it's how preference goes, if you're liking it soo far than continue to watch it, it does get intense, for me, I'd say around the arlong park arc.

yes donot skip any arc.
they are some arcs like post war arc, fishmen arc etc which as such had no importance in storyline but u shouldnot skip it.
