Earth is the best. It creates the best defense, and it creates a nearly unblockable offense. It can also be combined with Fire (to make lava), Wind (to make sand), and Water (to make mud).

Earth can block Fire, Wind, Water, and other Earth attacks. The only thing that can destroy Earth is Lightning, and Lightning is the rarest element, so not many shinobi have it.

The same can't be said for any other element.
don't be so naive.

In order for what you said to be true, you must take in account so many measurements... for example:

How large and dense was your earth wall for example ? vs. How large and hot was the fire that was burning through it ?.

And the same can be said for ALL elements.

You just have to make sure that the element you are using has more volume/density/or whatever than the element you are up against...etc.

Take water for example.

You can make a gigantic water wave that can push a boulder of rock. The wave has to be BIGGER and more POWERFUL than the boulder for that to be accomplished though.

If you have more water than fire, the fire will be extinguished...

etc. etc.

Just some examples to counter your argument.

Wind. The ability to slice through rock and other materials is awesome. I don't know if Shinra Tensei uses the wind element but the ability to push and pull is also cool.

I'm speaking in general. If two techniques, one of fire and one of earth, of equal size and 'density' met, the earth would prevail because of earth's natural strength against fire. In general, fire techniques can't break through rock. An incredibly high level fire technique may be able to turn a lower level rock technique into lava, but that would be an extreme example.

The same can't be said for all elements. There aren't really any defensive Fire, Lightning, or Wind techniques, and Water doesn't have the same combination or offensive capabilities that Earth does.

You have to take into account the chain of the elements. Water is stronger than fire, which is stronger than wind, which is stronger than lightning, which is stronger than earth, which is stronger than water.

In general, a defensive earth technique can block a water technique of a higher size and strength because earth is strong against water.

The size and 'density' of techniques only comes into play when the two elements meeting don't directly affect each other per the chain of the elements.

Lighting first, then Wind.

Lightning is quick in striking an opponent, its bright when it flashes and it's hot.

Wind is cool coz it cuts yet can be gentle. ;)

good point.

However.

Did you see when Sasori's water jet cut right through rock ?

The water was so pressurized and powerful that it cut right through rock with ease.

so therefore water does have nice offensive abilities.

I will try to find the episode and post it okay ?
