I believe the purpose of the match is for Naruto to teach Sasuke an important lesson. Awhile ago, Sasuke was able to overcome the curse of hatred thanks to the Kages and Itachi. Still that doesn't change the fact that his views or change that he wants to bring are wise. Naruto, in my opinion, has grown to be quite a mature character thanks to the influences around him. This means that Sasuke's road of becoming good has not happen. He still has some lingering darkness within him. Sasuke intends to destroy all the Jinchuriki, while Naruto wants to protect them. Sasuke also will go after Naruto since he has Kurama after all. The final fight will be a battle of beliefs, power, and perseverance put to the test. Naruto will finally be able to liberate Sasuke from all his hatred. In return, Sasuke might find no purpose in living anymore. I believe that Sasuke could still live in the manga; but at the same time i see him sacrificing himself vs Naruto. Tell me what you believe the purpose of their fight will be.

didn't like the part sasuke sacrificing himself, true peace can only be achieved when the opposing forces join powers,he needs to understand the error of his ways, and work with naruto to achieve peace.

That's probably what the sage meant when he told the bijuus that there will be a time when they'll know what true power is
But I don't think sasuke will sacrifice his life

You bring a valuable point. Still it doesn't change the fact that Sasuke won't commit suicide against Naruto. For all we know, Sasuke will feel terrible for becoming so blind on his arrogant views of peace. He might come to terms that the only way to reach peace is to break the chain of hatred for good, which means himself.

Sasuke has also matured, just in a darker way. Naruto's life has gotten significantly better over time, while Sasuke went through harder times as he grew up. Between being mentally f*cked up by Itachi's Tsukiyomi, the truth about Itachi and his inner struggle to find the right path for himself, it only makes sense that his outlook is grimmer than Naruto's.

True, Sasuke faced trials that are beyond what i've seen Naruto go through emotionally.

I agree but that doesn't mean he can't use a good beating from Naruto to lighten him up.

He doesn't need that at all. Naruto believes everything can b solved with love and compassion. That is a foolish outlook. Sasuke beating the shit out of Naruto or stalemating with him would great for character development: It would show Naruto that sometimes a vicious onslaught can be just as effective as love and compassion sometimes, making him grow up a bit.

I'll agree. Still Hashirama needed to put love and compassion aside for Madara. What's stopping Naruto from doing the same in regards to Sasuke?

The whole theme and point of the manga is the other way around, that love and compassion is the answer not vicious onslaught.

Love and compassion can only get you so far in life.

You do have a point however, while Naruto is naive quite a bit, Sasukes method is gonna leave everything in a dark place.

Though stalemate with each other... that could work. The two are opposite sides of the same coin. The light and the darkness. They most likely need to put their heads together to make things work.

The day that Sasuke really cares for Naruto will be the day that method will work.

Sasuke represents the "Peace through power" outlook of the Elder son, while Naruto represents the "Peace through love" outlook of the Younger son.

The point of Naruto vs Sasuke is to end the conflict. Every other conflict between the two views resulted in the fighters forsaking their ideals. Like how Hashirama put aside his compassion and killed Madara.

Like the latest chapters have said, shinobi are people who endure. However, things can change them.

What's special about Naruto, is that he won't change and he won't give up, which will result in sacrifice of either or both of the two. Like Naruto said, Sasuke will change when he learns to understand Naruto. Naruto will do everything in his power to show his resolve, and then Sasuke will realize his errors.

What happens from there is hard to predict though =/
