What's the "Choku Tomoe"?

It seems as though Kishi is categorizing MS/EMS patterns to sword and blade types. Chokuto, Tachi, Katana, just look them up.

The shape of the blade changes the users battle style, so I can only conclude that the shape of the sharigan pattern determines the offensive and defensive techniques that go with it.

Sasuke’s is straight. Among other things, it could very well explain why his Sussano is capable of firing arrows.

The pattern may reflect the user by complimenting his fighting style, it could be hereditary, or perhaps it's random. However since your sword is considered an extension of your soul, I can only conclude that the pattern is more of a reflection of the user.


I could be dead wrong, but an explanation like this seems plausible.

From my understanding straight comes is basically a design with straight lines which only sasuke and izuna have, it grants enhanced perception ability. Othes MS users have swirly design and it seems to favor genjutsu and hax op tech as kamui

I think the different type of Tomoe determine what type of ability the user has. Sasuke and Itachi both have 3 abilities that we know of. Susanoo amaterasu and tsukuyomi. Kakashi and Obito have kamui. Shisui had Koto Amatsukami. I assume the different type of tomoe determine different inherent dojutsu and different levels of perception.

I know Choku translates it straight or direct but what does that have to do with anything? And i know its something to do with the Sharingan, but what the hell is it? A Mangekyou?

You will notice that Madara's and Itachi's are curvy, and Kakashi's to an extent as well.

You will also notice that Izuna's, Sasukes and even Shishuis to a certain extent. But they are more straight in design lacking any major curves.

It is my theory that:

Straight Coma Eyes - Are better at tracking movements
Curve Coma Eyes - Are better at tracking Jutsu

Ya know, I'd like to believe it means some crazy far out theorys that some of these people have thought of, some are quite decent, some sort of secret lies within the shape of the design or whatever that Madara somehow knows about.

But yeah I'm pretty sure he was just saying that he can tell he has EMS or something of the sort.

Crazy far out theorys didnt exactly help with the whole Tobi/Obito thing. "It's too obvious so it's obviously not Obtio! It's gotta be Izuna or Kagame or Shisui" ...Nek minit.. nope, it's Obito >_>

You can't really tell with the whole Japanese/English translations. I'm sure this'll clear up in the anime unless it's cleared up in the manga.

Well little one as per Manga facts there are Straight MS and there are Gay MS .... and what they do and with whom is their business.

On a serious note there are a few possibilities:

1. Sasuke has a special lineage of MS that allows good movement.
2. Madara sensed that Sasuke's MS is actually EMS.

You have all forgotten that, Sasuke's sharingan was given to him by his brother, which means it's his brother's eyes. That should tell you how dangerous and smart Itachi was.
