I'm not sure if he'd be able to destroy it completely, the thing is massive, even compared to his blows. However, Gai is a decently smart ninja who'd be using an attack that would kill him. So I'm gonna assume that Gai would damage the SS to the point where it could not be used effectively afterwards.

The regenerative powers of the God tree should be legendary, so it'll regenerate almost instantly, though gai's attack 'll do considerable damage.

Going by size comparisons, it would only damage a very minuscule part of the Statue unfortunately.

Sadly, 8th Gate Gai ain't stronger than Kurama + PS. Only has more power than the 5 Kages so its a no.. plus, Even with 20+ PS swords and 20 + Tbbs and a explosion that covered over 50 + mountains, it only lost couple of hundred hands.. while the main body was still in tact.
