Yamato is just absorbed to form powerful zetsu. It was shown nowhere that he is dead. He is also a skillful ANBU. I think he will become a important piece in the forth coming story also...

its safe 2 say tht wen ur stuck in a tree being absorbed tht u might as well be dead. i think he is a living tree now.
