I'm a teen in need of a job to earn money and kill time.

I was wondering, how old were you when you got your first job and what was it?
Do share some of your first time work experience. Have any advice to give or any suggestions I should take?

This should be interesting.~

At the age of 15, I was a grounds man at a tractor repair shop. I made 11 dollars an hour, and worked 4 days a week.

My first job is still my current job since I'm only 18. I work in an ice cream store. It takes alot of effort to not eat all the ice cream

I used to work at Subway when I was 17. Now I'm almost 19 and I work at Walmart.

First job was working at a Jack in the box when i was 17. . . . . . . . . . Um fast food is not the best place for a girl unless youre in a register and even then its higly difficult when it comes to a rush. Try getting a job at a bank because youll be surprised at what age may a bank hire girls especially when they . . . . Um. . . Are pleasing to the eye. No joke they will sometimes hire on the spot.If you dont like banking then maybe a clothing store

When I was 13 I worked at a Coney Island (restaurant based in Michigan). I was a waiter and I also made Hookahs for people to smoke (before the smoking ban was passed in restaurants here in Michigan).

... I hope you're kidding? No? Okay...

That much an hour on your first job? :what:

I bet you do it anyway. -w-
This is why I'm thinking I shouldn't work at a place that involves food?

Really? Well, I'm not sure if it's the same where I live. It might be stricter but I should try if what you say is true. Plus working in a bank pays a bit more.

Sometimes but I exercise so it's okay =D
If you can avoid it, you should try to but don't let that stop you from getting a job. Income is much better than no money.

As I recall I was 14 when I got my first job(23 now). It was at a Canadian Tire and I got hired on because of a friend to work in the seasonal department. I remember being really nervous when I first started and feeling quite overwhelmed in my new position.

My advice to you if you are feeling this way is just ask as many questions as you think you need to. No one's going to judge you, and no one should. If you're unsure of something, it's better to ask questions than to continue doing it the wrong way.

Take as many shifts as you can, and help out as many fellow employees as you can. The term "I scratch your back and you scratch mine" can be really relevant in most cases. Lastly, be confident and stay cool. Confidence is an attractive quality, not just physically. People notice confidence and this can help you acquire more respect in the work environment.

This is especially true for customer service, because you aren't only selling a product, you're selling yourself. Good luck!
