I'm a teen in need of a job to earn money and kill time.
I was wondering, how old were you when you got your first job and what was it?
Do share some of your first time work experience. Have any advice to give or any suggestions I should take?
This should be interesting.~
As I recall I was 14 when I got my first job(23 now). It was at a Canadian Tire and I got hired on because of a friend to work in the seasonal department. I remember being really nervous when I first started and feeling quite overwhelmed in my new position.
My advice to you if you are feeling this way is just ask as many questions as you think you need to. No one's going to judge you, and no one should. If you're unsure of something, it's better to ask questions than to continue doing it the wrong way.
Take as many shifts as you can, and help out as many fellow employees as you can. The term "I scratch your back and you scratch mine" can be really relevant in most cases. Lastly, be confident and stay cool. Confidence is an attractive quality, not just physically. People notice confidence and this can help you acquire more respect in the work environment.
This is especially true for customer service, because you aren't only selling a product, you're selling yourself. Good luck!
