The Amaterasu can kill a few of them, but still not enough. The slug outnumbers him.

amaterasu csn kill a lot. its not a few. he can make it in such a way that the slugs have to endure amaterasu to reach him. fire jutssu are in general a weakness whic hhe would make use of.

Amaterasu and Totsuka are already countered. It's really not illogical for a 100% Katsuyu to be capable of defeating Itachi. Genjutsu could be the only potentially tricky thing.

The only way Itachi loses would be due to his own health, not anything Katsuyu can do. Eventually he would die due to exhaustion, seems like. Edo Itachi though, or "healthy" Itachi is another story.

It is mental pain and I'm sure all animals regardless of their physical composure can feel pain. Katsuyu doesn't have good chakra control, that is why it is Sakura and Tsunade that use its power because they are the ones with the chakra control. Katsuyu's chakra reserves shouldn't matter as Tsukiyomi doesn't get broken with large chakra reserves.
