What makes the SOSP a sage?

Im not sure if this has been posted or not and i have used the thread search thing but i havnt found an answer yet.

But what makes the Sage of Six Paths, a sage? is it because he was a master of nature chakra and gave birth to the frogs that made Jiriya and naruto a sage? my thought is that he is was a sage like naruto/jiriya and since he may have had the rennigan thats why he is called that. if that is true then if naruto gets rennigan will he be able to be called SOSP as well? lol help me understand

lol, I think you mean he had a frog contract. So far it is a rumor going around; nobody knows if he actually had a contract with the frog ninja. In addition he is called a sage because a sage means wise man. He was very wise from what I have seen. He sealed the 10 tails, split chakara into 9 parts and scattered them, choose love over power, learned about ninjitsu and passed it on, and though incredibly powerful he was also kind and intelligent. Not because he had Sage Mode if indeed he had it at all.

Anyone can be a Sage, it just happens the the Frogs use it. Also the Frogs were never from the So6P, they could have been around as long as the So6P, we don't know.

oh well i thought he had some connection to the frogs since both of them refer to a child of prophecy or something like that. and also since naruto became a sage from the frog's teachings that's why i thought there was a connection there too
