What makes people say Itachi > Sasuke?

Yes, so in that case, it's definitely Sasuke > Itachi (after one heck of a battle on Itachi's part! lol) since we have no other proof due to his health issues and obvious death. In canon there is no doubt he's surpassed his older brother.

But seriously, Sasuke is no retard. Genjutsu is out of the picture in this fight, since Sasuke broke Tsukuyomi. Then it comes down to ninjutsu where Sasuke outclasses him.

Wasn't it stated at the start of the story that Sasuke was considered a genius? Not like Shikamaru, but with his ability to learn quickly and pass the test by answering every question correctly. I wold have thought Itachi was more of a tactical genius, but Sasuke was quick to pick up on things.

IF. Notice the word you used, "IF". Here's a newsflash, Sasuke actually has the EMS, in the manga. Where's healthy Itachi? Oh yeah, he doesn't exist.

Yeah it's a big if,but it is a fact that Sasuke's level back then wasn't enough to beat a not healthy Itachi.The only reason Sasuke is alive and has EMS is because Itachi wanted to protect him and make him stronger.Of course Itachi doesn't exist he sacrificed himself for Sasuke.Itachi's death was a prerequisite for Sasuke's power.Sasuke never obtained the EMS.It was given to him.That's why you can't compare them without if's.

Totsuka stabbed Oro, not shot him. No matter how long the blade is, it can't out maneuver an airborne creature in the sky.
