What makes Jiraiya such a good character

lol, dude calm down. She just doesn't like that fact that her favorite character appears only in flashbacks.

Move-wise, Jiraiya has

-Sage Mode
-Super Saiyan 3 hair spikes
-Toad oil
-Beastly summonings
-Sensory barrier


But as far as his character goes, I like his pervy side even if it is somewhat cliche' to have anime characters like that. But J-man isn't restricted to just being pervy... When shit hits the fan and it's time to get serious, Jiraiya can drop his light-hearted persona and take on a much darker and more serious vibe

I love Jiraiya, hes one of my favorites. I cried some manly tears when he died too. I think he is one of the best written characters in the series.

I just like the fact that he actually had quite the hard life as well. He was chosen by the Toad Sage to be 'the one' or ambiguously special anyway and that was a lie, he never had any luck with Tsunade, he fought through many wars, couldn't stop or save his teammate, had his sensei and favourite student die and then was killed by his own pupils...and he still did it all with a smile on his face.

Not all tortured characters have to be stoic and silent. That's why I like Jiraiya anyway, and whilst i'm not crazy over him- he picked the perfect time in the manga to kick it.
