What Makes Fairy Tail so special..?

So I need a new manga series to try, and I have heard that fairy tail is very good, plus popular. I just wanted to know why you guys think is so great.. From first view it looks like a copy of one piece, a series I dont really like..

First off One Piece is EPIC !!!

As for Fairy Tale well theres lot of action , i think its more like a mix of Naruto and One piece. Instead of ninjas its magician , instead of jinchiruki its Dragon Slayers. Lot of comedy and action at the same time. 5/5

By the way i read all the mangas up till now and its getting pretty intense.

Well Natsu (the main character) is really a guy who cant sit down and wait like Naruto and Luffy (and he is pretty dumb) the animation tend to look like more like Naruto than One piece. The plot is pretty good up till now and the developement of the characters is going pretty fast unlike One piece.

and theres pretty much no filler

One Piece is EPIC!! You should watch it till the end! Its my favorite anime so far. I cry when they cry. I laugh when they laugh. xd Anyways, Fairy Tail is just as awesome! I still prefer One Piece over it but Fairy Tail will soon become one of the big 4. (others being Naruto,Bleach, and One Piece.) The plot is great, and the character development is just as good. The story now is really getting exciting. You have to give it a try! Give One Piece another shot as well!

I agree. It's a mix of Naruto and One Piece. Unlike some, I prefer Fairy Tail over One Piece. Perhaps, I prefer the way the battles turn out and backbone plot (which is closer to Naruto) or I'm able to relate more easily to the characters, though I like One Piece too.
Also, don't forget, ultra hot-girls in the anime just like One Piece. <3
To summarize FT, it's like that a hot blonde girl (Lucy) will enter a Guild (a bit like a hidden village in Naruto) and will get adventures alongside the trio of Natsu-Gray-Erza<3 (whose stories will unfold gradually) for some more enticing parts along with some antagonists naturally.

It's hard to give you an exact answer here, but I also don't like One Piece yet I like Fairy Tail. Fairy Tail is fun, but when the fighting starts everyone gets serious which I find to be one of the bigger differences between Fairy Tail and One Piece. In One Piece the characters are always being goofy even in the middle of intense battle and that bothers me.
