[Discussion] What makes a good Main Character?

What do you think makes a good and cool main Character

I think determination and comical. And air-headed to some situations. I notice a lot Shounen Manga characters are like that.

Determination/guts, and otherwise inspirational stuff, also something to make them relatable to the reader/viewer. I usually like side characters more though.

Im the same i somehow like more sidecharacters My favorite character is always a side character in each manga

You must empathise with him and his purpose
He must grow during the series. For that, he can't start it perfect, this way the series becomes really dull, really fast.
A likable and relatable personality.

Being their own person, some identifying quality to make them stand out from the rest, Back Story, development (both ups and downs, failures and triumphs), it's also good to have your character's outlook be something the audience can sympathize with.

Gone down a dark path and come back from it. A main character must be greedier than any other. A main character must embody the extreme of all things, good and evil. Most of all be realistic with himself and don't give out false hope. *Naruto vs neji battle*

Also I believe its important for the main character to grow immensely from the beginning of the series to the end to show development.

something fresh we have not seen before. it get's boring that we mostly see the same boring type of mc's in most of the manga/animes.
