What make you like Naruto(character)?

Why do people dislike that so much? Personally, I think he became infinitely more charismatic when he became "NaruJesus". I didn't even like him before then tbh. But that's not the issue here. Why is it that his Jesus-esque behavior is seen as such a bad thing? Especially by those who gave him that title (I never thought to compare Naruto and Jesus; I just thought of Naruto as a regular person). I mean, if you're going to compare someone's behavior to Jesus, then proceed to criticize them for it...do you understand what you're implying?

Simply put, I liked Naruto when he was a little rough around the edges. I couldn't buy into Naruto's character once he became this all-loving, all-forgiving, miracle-performing being who believed that he was capable of achieving world peace. From the Pain arc onwards most of us new that the formula to all of Naruto's fights would end with Naruto talk-no-jutsu'ing them. His character just became nauseating in general, (naively believing that he could end the war by himself until Itachi slapped him down, for example).

And in no way am I criticizing Jesus. Jesus was depicted as a near-perfect being much like Naruto from the Pain arc onwards, hence the use of the term "NaruJesus". It worked for Jesus in the Bible but for Naruto it didn't. He just became another 2d shonen protagonist sterotype.

How did it not work for Naruto? And I don't care about the story. My concern is that people would be opposed to someone like Naruto actually existing.

OMG this made me cry :T_T:
Now plz get a life :|

If you want me to get a life, answer my question(s). Nothing about me will change if you keep doing this. You are the one claiming that I don't have a life. If I knew how you would go about getting a life, I wouldn't be talking to you.

As a Naruto fan, this was well put. I agree, the War Arc Naruto Kishimoto created was shitty.

But the only reason I stung by it is because he ruined aspects of a lot of characters in that arc too. So it's just a place of favoritism at this point since it's all over.

What makes you think I don't have one? Or that you do? Or that anyone does?

No it isn't. You say it is because you have your own alignment, they are going against it, and you are having difficulty coming to a mutual understanding. They are people, not walls. Treat them as such.

How do you explain the wall of China than?

Someone like Naruto would be very dangerous in the real world (despite being well-intentioned). He regarded a genocidal nutcase (and possible pedophile) who's responsible for his parents death as "the coolest guy". He let Konan, a serial killer who was an accomplice in destroying his village and killing his sensei, walk completely free.

Naive behaviour like this would, in the real world, led to someone eventually betraying his trust and causing chaos on a grand scale. For which he'd be responsible.

I don't think so. I think that's actually the beauty of it. Once you understand why those people do the things they do, you come to realize that someone like Naruto is the best person for them. I wish I could give a real-life example of it, but there probably aren't any. I guess just think about times when you've felt like you let people down. Then magnify that. The guilt comes because you care about them, because you know they care about you. I'm explaining this really badly, but do you at least understand a little bit of what I'm trying to say?

Yeah, I get what you're trying to say but the part in bold is a reflection of how you feel rather than how people feel in general. People don't have a collective mindset, not everyone feels guilt for their actions and not everyone cares about how their actions impact on the people nearest and dearest to them (hell, some people don't even have close friends or family to worry about).

Yeah...I know it's not possible to be perfect. I think that everyone who has the capacity to feel that way can find a way to get along, but then there are people with mental conditions that literally prevent them from feeling emotions. There's nothing to do about that. And it would take a really long time (at least 2-3 generations) and a lot of crimes would go unpunished. :(

I always like Naruto for his stubbornness to achieve his dream. I liked it when he never gave up to reach that dream. He sets a real life example in trying your hardest, and not getting too caught up with what people have to say. I also like straight forward people like him.

Same could be said for a lot of people in the NV. Sasuke was a loose canon who was embarking on a terrorist mission and attacked national leaders, Itachi committed genocide in jingoistic fashion, Minato died without establishing a proper follow-up and left his village in chaos, etc. You can't cherry pick these details and that's why it's FICTION.

OT - Because Naruto, simply put, is the truth. His attitude, his style, his refusal to back down, his loyalty to the people he loves, his ability to stand up for the weak and downtrodden, his outlook. He's a paragon and just an all around pimp.

I love Naruto (And Shisui-sama) because of the lengths they go to in order to protect the people they love and defend what's right in this world. People like that are the ones truly worth marveling over and the ones worth looking up to.

Naruto has a pure heart and when push comes to shove, you know he's got your back. Some people criticize his relationship with Sasuke, but I feel it was explained very well in 699. Naruto truly ached for Sasuke because he knew that pain and felt a special connection because of their similar paths, and his first bond in a world of darkness. Sasuke reciprocated and saw Naruto as somebody worth admiring and on Itachi's level, the types of people he wishes he could be like but couldn't achieve. That speaks volumes in and of itself.

Naruto is a breath of fresh air and that's why people are so drawn to him. I would give anything to have a friend like Naruto irl, people like him are rarer than anything else.

He was cool, I typically like characters who are sort of silly and funny. I mainly like Naruto for his personality.

This thread has more than twice the pages than the Sasuke thread.

Go figure...

First of all this thread is about Naruto, not any of the other people you've mentioned. Second of all, I made that post in response to somebody who couldn't fathom why people wouldn't want someone like Naruto to exist in the real world. I don't even understand what your post is in "response" to, tbh. It reeks of someone who skim-read the thread, thought I was attacking their fave and went off on a rant without any understanding of the context.

People are entitled to their opinions.

But as to why others are saying why they don't like Naruto is kind of unneeded.

You don't go into an "appreciation/like" thread to talk bad do you? It reminds me of people who go on youtube videos of people they hate just to voice their negative opinion of it.

It's part of the reason I did not post in Sasuke's like thread.

I don't care for him... Used to like the character, but then I started to dislike him, and now I'm just indifferent towards him.
