Is it thier facial appearance? Looks? Style? Beauty? Unique skill set...? Nukes...? Relevance to story...? Statements stated by reliable sources...? Character ....?

How did certain characters get the reputation they have now in community: what is the difference between the pathways thier devolopment went through.....?

Thoughts?

It's mainly their statements and relevance to the protag. Plot may as well follow whatever shounen protags promise except for the one exception where they lose or someone dies, then the broken promise is just used as a plot device for the protag to get stronger. Some people are still riding Ace's dick just because he's supposed to be Luffy's older brother. Then there are the guys who believe a one armed Shanks is stronger than Kaido just because Shanks is more relevant to Luffy. Smh man.

A few battles can lead to being over-hyped. "Appearance" leads to being over-sensationalized...like Kawaki, for example.

The only problem I have with some shounen protagonists is that they seem like a copy/paste character w/ the same qualities (Loud Mouth, Hidden special power, Outcast, Obnoxious, Naive). It's just the same cookie cutter routine.

Asta is a prime example of this.....

Nope, it’s the fandom alone when it comes to those things, when it comes to overhype, a character can have few panels or no more than 5 words in and because of just the looks, with no story, style or power/feats revealed people overhype them like there is not tomorrow, do they believe it themselves or trolling alone, people right now do not know how to pay attention. Examples of Kawaki or Kara Girl.

When it comes to underhype, these same people who not pay attention to the actual development, story, feats etc of the character itself who is being underhype.

many of those traits are shared by kids the market that shonen caters to.
