I think what he is trying to portray is that Obito is what Naruto could have easily become had he given in to his lust for power and recognition. They have a lot of similarities between the two:

Both considered dead last by their peers in the academy
Both dreamed of being recognized by the village and becoming Hokage
Both following their masters will of bringing peace to the world: Jiraiya and Madara
Both extremely good at convincing and manipulating people with their words
Hopelessly in love with a girl (Rin and Sakura) that loved the 'jerk' (Kakashi and Sasuke)
And Both were loudmouths and wore goggles

The reason why Naruto didn't become how Obito became was because he had mentors like Jiraiya, Kakashi, Iruka and had loyal peers such as the Konoha 11

By the looks of it, Obito didn't have many inspirational figures in his life, and knowing the Uchiha clan, they must have pushed him out and thought of his as simply a failure. The only people that did acknowledge him were Rin, Minato and partwise Kakashi. This is why i think i stung so much when Rin died.

Btw im not sure if this is a coincidence or not but when Naruto was a kid he wore Orange and blue attire, while Obito wore blue and orange xD

Madara didnt target obito until he had the chance to.
The moment obito decided to die was the moment madara could target him.
He had long time to live, he had a lot of things set up

Obito might be more like all other guys that turned evil but is far away from Naruto with the exeption of a couple of things. OK, I like Obito but he turned way evil for one little girl. Nagato turned evil but with good intentions/bad plan after seeing his friend die and also saw his family killed in front of him. I can get into more details but hopefully you are all reading the manga and don't have memory issues or lack of analisys ability to tell.
Yes, Obito wanted to be Hokage, funny/stupid like little Naruto, and some other minor stuff. But I doubt he ever considered Madara his master. Just followed his plan since he thinks he can get his girl back. Nothing else and Madara was not his master. He never calls him his sensei, does he. Last of his class, according to who? He was considered to be at a lower level by Kakashi and that is it. There is nothing like what happened to Naruto. Naruto also had plenty of chakra control issues due to the 9tails inside him, he grew up alone, with abandoned like feelings. He made the little good/positive things he had, the things of value to remain on track. His own perseverance and will kept him on track despite the odds.

Good at convincing/manipulating? Obito let Madara convinced him and is manipulated, not sure about him. Yes, he manipulated a lot of people into getting into war but I think he is getting too much credit.

Obito is doing all this for one little girls. He makes Sasuske look great since he is doing everything for his village and family.

I can keep going but got work to do.
