Nothing will fix it. Unless of course we come up with something that can take away our fear and selfishness.

I've come to the conclusion that such a thing will never exist, and shouldn't.

Negativity is also a part of life and we have to learn to embrace it, because without it we would never realize the true beauty of life. We must cry to know that smiling feels good.

If this world were to be "at peace" then we would just be denying a part of our true nature.

I can agree with this.

Technology will advance faster and a 2nd home can be build on the moon, if there wasn't any war. All that money we wasted on military would advance this world to another level.

However, war is biology.

This is true. However peace doesn't necessarily mean an end to all conflict. It just means that we learn to resolve such conflict without bloodshed or oppression. Seems like a dream I know. But one of the main reasons for conflict is the fact that our resources are finite and people covet what they cannot have.

An abundant an infinite supply of energy for example could be a 1st step toward the end of many conflicts around the world. Question is where to find it and how to distribute it to everyone without those in power hording it for themselves. Then there's the acceptance of cultural differences. If we could tackle a few of these hurdles we would see some drastic changes for the better in the world.

But if you mean to end all conflict whatsoever, OP, then that will never happen. But that doesn't mean it need end in violence.

Naw. not end all conflict. just end enough to allow the world to advance in technology and knowledge. Then we can have a cyberpunk war (Ghost in the shell, psycho pass, blade runner, etc).

I don't think that universal peace will ever be attainable as long as jealousy, fear and xenophobia exist.

However, if we could learn to be peaceful despite of these things then we might experience unity. But it's unlikely. Disruption is part of the human experience and if I've learned anything from our history, it's that we are nearly always in conflict.

well I can certainly agree that if we could focus more on technological advancement and less on wars This world could be as near to Paradise as possible for sure. A shame really. We have so much untapped potential and we squander it on fighting.

Idk, solving border problems could be a start. You could let all those countries to fight war and get it settled for once.

people are too self centered to solve problem X which affects humanity as a whole. If only you could make them look at a problem but then why would they contribute or get involved to solve it? and also others problems are sometimes our advantages...

Write a book of the guideline to achieve peace, spread it along the young, and let all of us die or disappear so that the teachings of the bad from the old world do not reach them. It's extreme, but realistically speaking, a whole bunch of us should not be around to influence the future. I'll even put myself in thata category.

As long as greed and hate exist in this world. We'll never have global peace.

I think that it can be done. Obviously it would not be perfect, but it is doable. I feel like a lot of good people resign themselves to live in this 'bad' world because it seems like such a daunting task to try to change it. Of course it is a daunting task; we are but one generation built upon a foundation of hundreds which have created the issues that exist today. However, if we don't take action on our desires to create peace, then we are just setting everything one more generation back.

The very first step to achieving this peace is probably self-awareness. I think that people should be able to evaluate their lives and figure out essentially why they are the way they are, how their experiences have shaped them, and perhaps where they are 'flawed' in all of that. After that, I believe that people must learn how to think about others the same way that they think about themselves. Most conflicts arise out of differences in personality, which can be better understood when people take the time to understand each other's lives.

An explanation of this I used in an older thread:

I would think about why I want to dislike someone, what it is about me that makes me dislike whatever facet of their personality that I dislike, and then I kind of look at it as my own fault for seeing them in that light. Then I want to figure out what makes them that way, and, once I understand that, there is no way I can dislike them anymore. The first part all happens too fast for me to ever dislike anyone.
