Personally I've always been a huge fan of the explosion style. Lava and ice are a close second. Also I added a poll.

Blaze, Mokuton, Jinton, Magnet and Storm for me.

I left those 3 out because they were only in the movies same with steel but those 3 seemed less like nature types to me.

Not really. I made a thread hypothesizing what they all were using basic physics. Crystals are formed from rapidly heated minerals in a solution, so earth, water and fire. This would make it a kekkei tota.

Swift release was like lighting flicker only far faster, which implies possibly the combination of wind and lightning.

Dark release however yes is probably the hardest one to classify. Very hard actually. It appears to be a chakra absorbing technique that sucks in all chakra, manipulates, amplifies and fires it back at people in the form of a blue flame. This makes it difficult to classify in real world physics. It's romanization appears to be "gloomy, ghostly or underworld and another japanese translation of it is "vampire." It is also housed in and activated through two black diamond shaped marks on the hand. With this, the best I can surmise is that it's possibly a combination of all five elements, similar to the gudou damas resulting in a void like ability that can read and absorb all natures.
