the pein ARC, I feel that was the first time Naruto actually showed his true power as the main character,

The Hidan and Kakuzu arc was a close second, that fight between Kakashi and Hidan was breath taking, almost on par with the part 1 fights

In terms of fights the Hidan/Kakuzu arc ranks as my favorite actually. The characters involved weren't exactly OP, but the strategy and skills were amazing. It was like watching a chess match converted into a ninja fight.

Perfectly said, I remember watching the last episode where you think Shikamaru gets stabbed and then they made us wait a whole two weeks for a double episode, this was the ONLY time I watched an ep back to back multiple times a day from the start of Kakuzu's mask entering the fray up until Naruto using rasenshuriken was pure magic for the series, the only reason it's not my fave was because pein ARC touched a couple heart strings and really took the series to a whole new level with the death of Jiraiya, but immortals ARC is definitely a top 2 ARC
