Love is a powerful emotion that at a young age can be confused with attraction or lust.

When you truly love someone you love them for who they are, and will willingly let them go if you know they love another. You want their happiness above your own even though you want them for your own happiness.

It's a selfless love that can also be selfish and a person truly in love never needs to ask because they feel it in their heart. They just know.

It's not something that comes to light straight away, it's what hides behind lust.

“Love is a temporary madness, it erupts like volcanoes and then subsides. And when it subsides, you have to make a decision. You have to work out whether your roots have so entwined together that it is inconceivable that you should ever part. Because this is what love is. Love is not breathlessness, it is not excitement, it is not the promulgation of promises of eternal passion, it is not the desire to mate every second minute of the day, it is not lying awake at night imagining that he is kissing every cranny of your body. No, don't blush, I am telling you some truths. That is just being "in love", which any fool can do. Love itself is what is left over when being in love has burned away, and this is both an art and a fortunate accident.”

You see, true love is something that really won't become obvious until the initial lust has passed, and then you will either become bored, or it will prevail. And if it does, you will do anything to protect them, and do whatever you can to make them happy.
