^This, pretty much. Doubt he revealed to anyone else the truth about the massacre (maybe Sakura?), so i guess he will be known like that for the next... two hundred years? People will forget about him, Naruto and the villages just like they forgot about Hagoromo, Kaguya and the rest.

he would be known for his help in the war and also as one of the two people who dispelled infinite tsukuyomi that enslaved the whole world. kakashi specifically mentions that as one of the side reasons why he was pardoned.

his epic 5 secs badassery which saved the leaf from destruction from a meteor was seen by kakashi and he in turn can spread the tale around. the man who now protects from outside.

all in all, a complete boss.
