What is more reliable:Databook or Manga Scans?

So whenever a hot topic comes up regarding the series people either do one of two things:They bring up manga scans or references to bolster their argument or they rely on the databook.However this thread is about which one is reliable.

The databook is great for getting information but some of it is also outdated thanks to new things introduced in the manga.For example the databook says Hiruzen was the God of Shinobi but we all know now that isn't true.The databook also said in order to use Susanoo you need Amaterasu and Tsukiyomi yet in later chapters that fact was debunked somewhat,it also said that Madara/Obito is immortal but again that was disproven as well.

Manga scans are a little better than the databook at times but you often need to sort through chapters in order to find the ones you need to help prove your arguement.That can be a pain since there's over 600+ chapters and unless you have a personal collection of manga scans then sorting through them is a hassle just to find one scan.

What you see in the manga is what you get , but some people can't even understand what is said in the manga , so like my man Shikamaru would say : It's a drag.

Neither. The manga contradicts itself just as much as it contradicts the databooks. Re-read the entire manga and you'll see what I mean.

How are manga scans better then the data book? Manga scans 9/10 show peoples own opinion. You don't think it would be beneficial to lie to an opponent about one of your techs? Unless you were highly egotistical, then you wouldn't want them to know anything about how your tech works.

Currently the manga. The data book just gives a bit more detailed information/hype about information that is known. However if there is a deception in the manga, that deception will be in the databook as well(as if it wasnt, then it would have huge spoilers)

Ex.

Madara databook facts may state that madara killed izuna to get his eyes. Yet izuna was mortally wounded by tobirama.(as we know currently.) So the data book would have a incorrect fact.

or

In a early databook, it wouldve said itachi was just a villian who killed his clan to test his skills.

Yet in the manga, we know that that is not true, and itachi was a anti hero, who sacrificed his life to serve the village.


The databook just gives more insight into abilities and events from the point in the manga it is made, and before. Anything that contradicts the data book in the manga, is to be regarded as fact.

So simply manga is more reliable.

Once the series is over and the last databook is released, then perhaps the databook will be more reliable.

Manga> databook, always. Databook is full of contradictions and meaningless hypes. Databook lost it's credibility since it started to make mistakes(things that goes against what's in the manga). We can't blindly believe in what is in the databook anymore(but some people still do to wank their favoriete char).
This probably happens because kishi changes his mind during some times, and so he adds new logic/rules to the manga, but sometimes he doesn't bother "fixing" the databook.

They go hand in hand, kishi writes them, he knows his characters better than anyone else. However, we can't really use those numbers for particular things if the feats arent backing it up.

We shouldnt disregard the databooks just because said character has not been given adequate development to justify their stats. We all know development is lacking in the series for a general set of characters.

Data book is garbage, no one takes it serious and it constantly contradicts itself, manga scans beat out the data book any day of the week.

Correct. That means everything left is law, until proven false later on.

For example, as we have yet to see the Yata mirror defeated, the databook description and hype remains intact.

The databook is used to give insight on unclear material presented in the manga, from Kishi's own mind in his own words. You could say it's an unbiased interpretation of manga facts (albeit with added hyperbole).

So essentially, if you're not mentally handicapped, they're both credible.
