Not quite sure you do.

Fillers are necessary only when certain characters were neglected in the manga and deserve more screentime and it connects to the canon. However recently we've recieved bad notion of fillers which disrupt the pacing and ruined the excitement of this war arc especially when flashback keeps shoving it in my face which pissed alot of us cause we're tired of seeing redundancies such as Obito&Rin flashback that we cannot bear to watch it.
However Gai flashback with fillers did better job and it gots me the feel which usually flashback doens't get much praise but certainitly Gai deserve more attention since we've all been intrigue to learn more of his backstory rather than some character that we've already gotten full picture of plus I can sympathize Gai because he was a better friend to Kakashi than Obito.
Yes I love fillers when it's done right, the chuunin filler arc was horribly executed which ended up so much disappointment considering the potential and the hype it has therefore I cannot classify as "Canon" to my eyes. The last great fillers we had other than Gai flashback is Hinata&Hanabi, Kakashi ANBU, Chikara and some war filler elements such as pakura&gari, 7 swordsmen, Sound 4 Vs Rookie, Deidara vs Mifune, Shino vs Torune, and Kankuro vs Chiyo. These are the example of great fillers which I considered canon.
Actually fillers might be things Kishimoto wanted to do...but was forced to cut from the Manga for whatever reason.
Like his idea to have Naruto traveling all over the world and doing missions, which was replaced with the Chunin exams...and the fillers at the end of part one.
and Yamato's Data book entry having information from the Kakashi anbu filler.

Filler contains holes that would ripple the Anime in general. Might Guy stalking Kakashi, Hanabi being relevant, etc.
Obito's age....How the world existed before the Sage made the Moon....Minato's face on the Cliff whilst he was a Jonin...Naruto's exam entry age...Obito's chakra usage...Madara's blind entire moveset...oh wait those are canon.
Thought this since I started anime, other genres and entertainment mediums don't really have a concept of 'non-canon filler' in the notorious way anime does. It's interesting. I've seen people flat-out refuse to watch Naruto SD, the movies, beautifully animated anime episodes and even the books- just because it wasn't wholly written by Masashi Kishimoto.
Well here's the thing. None of it is wholly written by Kishimoto. His editors have played a HUGE part in the run of the series since the very start (did you know an editor suggested Sasuke? Like...Sasuke's existence of the manga. Pretty big deal) No arc has ever been 100% from Kishimoto's lore and as a writer/filmstudent myself I can confirm that writers do not consider their own word as bible law and are often open to outside influences. Naruto, like any series is a creative common- a franchise to be put out there, and a franchise that has been written and influenced by a bunch of creative sources already.

You don't want to acknowledge or watch 'filler'? The Inheritors of the Will of Fire is better in quality and does more with character development than most actual arcs. You're missing out is all. The Kakashi/Naruto bond, an insight into the Sannin, bonding the K11 and most importantly Shikamaru letting go of Asuma. There's a lot of real, progressive moments in there. And deserves more than to be simply off-handedly regarded as 'filler trash' and never seen again.

People like to slap the word filler on stuff indulgently as if it instantly demerits it as a piece of entertainment. What's more important? You sticking to the rules of this fictional world and only taking absolute authorship for the Bible...or entertainment? Because i'm pretty sure the latter is why we're all reading in the first place. A lot of filler is equal if not better animated & written than actual canon episodes and that's a fact.
How about these episodes? Were they not entertaining? Entertaining enough to be relevant?

All are animated amazingly, all add context and world-building and all are: E N T E R T A I N I N G
It's all part of the world and it's all 'Naruto'. Like 'canon', there is good and there is bad. The only time a filler can be considered exemplary should be when it conflicts with existing information. But even then, Kishimoto has conflicted with his own existing mythology before (Obito's graduation age and the Prime Hiruzen hijinx for example) so who is actually to judge what should be considered real and fake?
This thread isn't just for people who disregard filler but for people desperate for more chapters and content. You have it right in front of you. It's all Naruto. Enjoy.
Essentially- what do you guys value more? Lore or entertainment? Because I doubt anybody started reading all those years back for the former.
Details are important and Kishi didn't do it!
Oh shit I didn't read it right. But yeah they are plot holes and a ton of mistakes. I thought you meant that Kishi didn't explain them especially the world before the Sage and Moon.what?
Kishi made all those mistakes. The same as filler. A few plotholes are no indicator.

I agree with this thread. One of the most annoying things is when people start screaming "filler!" anytime a movie or an anime only episode is discussed as if it lessen it somehow. As a Kabuto fan, I freaking loved the Chikara Arc and will go against anyone who say it sucks just because there isn't a printed mangá version of it. And in terms of lore, I only consider non canon episodes that go out of their way to show scenes that clash with the manga and the break the creatwd worlds logic (the genie and mecha Naruto's episodes comes to mind)
And I don't care what you said, the mistery of Kakashi's mask will always be canon to me!
