You could argue Ceasar Clown, they call him Ceasar. And thinking about it, does he ever have "Dr Ceasar Clown" be mentioned, I know he doesn't get introduced like that..
Is it necessarily common to call scientists by the title "Dr." ?You could argue Ceasar Clown, they call him Ceasar. And thinking about it, does he ever have "Dr Ceasar Clown" be mentioned, I know he doesn't get introduced like that..
Chopper is his first name.Already edited to doctor chopper.
Yes... Yes it is.Is it necessarily common to call scientists by the title "Dr." ?
Your point being what? Chopper is his first name.Edit: Doctor Chopper.
No one has ever referred to Luffy as "Monkey" the way Kureha, Hogback, and Hiluluk were called those names. No one has ever said "Hey Monkey," or "Monkey was walking over there," or "Monkey wants to be the Pirate King" while referring to Luffy, which is the way the names Kureha, Hogback, and Hiluluk were used.Unlike Bleach, Oda so far hasn't used surnames as a way to call someone, however typically you do say a Doctors last name rather than his first, the exception to this which possibly Oda might be sticking to is Chopper, people have called him Dr Chopper, if his first name is that from Tony Tony Chopper. However, I'm fairly certain someone has called Luffy "Monkey", depending on how you take the context they could either be referring to him as being like a monkey (probably this), or calling him by his surname.
I get that, but it may still have been implied... And you didn't argue against Ceasar, what about then? Also, Hody Jones gets introduced as Hody Jones, but gets called Hody, I take it as Hody's name is written in the Japanese way like the rest right? So is his first name Jones then, and if so, does that mean people call him by his surname?Your point being what? Chopper is his first name.

Argue against Caesar? Caesar's last name is Clown. And I think Hody Jones is the only character so far who's actually been referred to by his last name rather than his first.I get that, but it may still have been implied... Or possibly all Fishmen are named the right way around?
I edited my post by the way, just for you to check it out*Argue against Caesar? Caesar's last name is Clown. And I think Hody Jones is the only character so far who's actually been referred to by his last name rather than his first.
Oh yeah, you're right, his name is organized as Caesar Clown, which would make Clown his first name. For some reason I was thinking of it the other way around.I edited my post by the way, just for you to check it out*
If Clown is his last name, why have they named him not in the Japanese style?
And if that's the case, there, I found the "find me one character" for you, isn't that justifiable enough to at least think that maybe the Doctors are also referred to by their last names? You dismissed it so boldly, that it came across as quite rude and ignorant.
Tony Tony is chopper's last name?Your point being what? Chopper is his first name.

Did you see my edit by the way? I'll reiterate just in case you didn't, but Zoro gets called Roronoa many times,Oh yeah, you're right, his name is organized as Caesar Clown, which would make Clown his first name. For some reason I was thinking of it the other way around.
idc how I come across.
Uh, no, that panel of Cavendish calling Law "Trafalgar" isn't the same as Kureha, Hogback, and Hiluluk. They exclusively go by those names and referred to it by everyone on a regular basis, not just every now and again or once by a stranger like Law and Cavendish.Did you see my edit by the way? I'll reiterate just in case you didn't, but Zoro gets called Roronoa many times,You must be registered for see linkshere Cavendish calls Law by his last name... It's really not unheard of as you originally made out, which is why I said you came across in such a way, but since you don't know how you come across when you're the one who writes text trying to convey his thoughts in such a way, I guess we'll leave that there then...
Something I noticed about Caesar and Hody was that they were introduced and given last and first names, and people chose to refer to them by those names. I don't think it makes sense that Oda would introduce a character who has only had one name revealed, and it's their last name. Like, do you think Crocodile is Crocodile's last name, or that Smoker is Smoker's last name?I thought how we could settle this and it was we need a doctor whose last name we know, so I tried to find a panel that Referred to Law's dad as "Dr Law", but no such luck... But before you so quickly dismiss untruths that those three doctors you mentioned are all called by their first name, keep in mind that's your opinion, not truth, unless you've got a secret panel or page from an SBS of Oda saying that they are.. Until then, I also think they're last names, it just makes sense.
Sorry, I read that as "Idk" not "Idc"..Uh, no, that panel of Cavendish calling Law "Trafalgar" isn't the same as Kureha, Hogback, and Hiluluk. They exclusively go by those names and referred to it by everyone on a regular basis, not just every now and again or once by a stranger like Law and Cavendish.
Ik how I come across sometimes, Idc about this cuz it's just a forum.
People Chose? No, that's where you're wrong, Oda chose, he directly had people call them by what is portrayed to be their last name... And now you're just assuming, I can flip this and say, everyone who has been introduced with just 1 name is actually their first name, what you think Chinjao is their first name? ... Oh wait, Chinjao, been introduced ONLY with a ONE name and it's his family name and is referred to ONLY as that.Something I noticed about Caesar and Hody was that they were introduced and given last and first names, and people chose to refer to them by those names. I don't think it makes sense that Oda would introduce a character who has only had one name revealed, and it's their last name. Like, do you think Crocodile is Crocodile's last name, or that Smoker is Smoker's last name?
You misunderstood me. I didn't ask for a character who has been referred to by his last name once by a stranger. I asked for a character who goes by their last names. Like Caesar and Hody, who are called Caesar and Hody all the time. That instance of Cavendish calling Law "Trafalgar" isn't the same thing because that's just one character doing it to Law once. Law is referred to as Law in every day talk, not Trafalgar the way Caesar Clown and Hody Jones are called Caesar and Hody in everyday talk.Sorry, I read that as "Idk" not "Idc"..
How is it not the same, you said, and I quote "show me a one character who is called by their last name over their first name", for an example Cavendish does it in that panel right there!
I mean, yeah, you brought up the case, but it occurred to me after you brought them up that those were characters who were introduced with both names, and then referred to by their last. Oda has never introduced a character using only one name, and that name is last name. Oda either introduces characters with both of their names and have them referred to as their first name, introduces a character with both names and have them referred to by their last name, or introduce a character with only their first name. It's not Sakazuki, Kuzan, Borsalino, Zephyr, Sengoku, Magellan, Kaido, Shanks, Killer, Smoker, Crocodile, Sabo, Buggy, and, for a time, Sanji, were last names. And either way, "concrete" evidence of a character who has gone by their last name ONLY (even when and though he was introduced 2 names and following the style of Oda) you have both Ceasar and Hody, so how and why are you now bringing up new points of "isn't the same as"...
So basically everyone here is guessing the positioning of the names, meaning there's no concrete evidence either way that Kureha, Kiluluk, and Hogback are last names.People Chose? No, that's where you're wrong, Oda chose, he directly had people call them by what is portrayed to be their last name... And now you're just assuming, I can flip this and say, everyone who has been introduced with just 1 name is actually their first name, what you think Chinjao is their first name? ... No.Can't you just agree that it's a possibility that the doctors are called by their last name, or possibly might not be, but it's you're opinion that chose that it's their first name.
No, I didn't misunderstand you at all, you said show me one character who goes by their last name only, boom, I did, you have Hody, Ceasar Daz bones (new on for ya), Chinjao, I gave you many examples. Then as a next sentence, and I quote, you saidYou misunderstood me. I didn't ask for a character who has been referred to by his last name once by a stranger. I asked for a character who goes by their last names. Like Caesar and Hody, who are called Caesar and Hody all the time. Boom, I did just that too, Cavendish "CHOOSES" his last name over Law's first name, doesn't matter if it's not day to day talk, this directly answered to that sentence...Show me one character who is called by their last name over their first name.
Fair point as well, until I mentioned the formally Don Chinjao, which you so blatantly skipped over (to which you'll probably skip over Daz being called by his last name too), Oda has introduced a character with just one name and it's his last name, meaning that he's done every variation there is with names. even done nicknames, meaning there's no concrete pattern therefor...I mean, yeah, you brought up the case, but it occurred to me after you brought them up that those were characters who were introduced with both names, and then referred to by their last. Oda has never introduced a character using only one name, and that name is last name. ... Yes, that's exactly what I'm saying, that's what I've been saying since the start.. That you saying they're first names is pure opinion and rather than disregarding someone else's opinion for your own and stating as if they're fact. I think they're last names and you think they are first names, but either one hasn't been proven to at least my knowledge. So basically everyone here is guessing the positioning of the names, meaning there's no concrete evidence either way that Kureha, Kiluluk, and Hogback are last names.
Annnnd that's why this has now become pointless, once again you're just being pissey because you're on "some forum" and you're taking pride in being a keyboard warrior.
One character choosing to call Law Trafalgar isn't the same as a character who is called by his last name by everyone all of the time over his first name. The latter is what I asked for, which you gave with Caesar and Hody. Daz Bones isn't one either, he's never been called just Daz iirc. No, I didn't misunderstand you at all, you said show me one character who goes by their last name only, boom, I did, you have Hody, Ceasar Daz bones (new on for ya), Chinjao, I gave you many examples. Then as a next sentence, and I quote, you said
Boom, I did just that too, Cavendish "CHOOSES" his last name over Law's first name, doesn't matter if it's not day to day talk, this directly answered to that sentence...
Chinjao is the exact situation as Hogback, Kureha, and Kiluluk. It's never been said that's his family name and you're assuming that it is. Chinjao doesn't solve the question, it's just another part of the question.Fair point as well, until I mentioned the formally Don Chinjao, which you so blatantly skipped over (to which you'll probably skip over Daz being called by his last name too), Oda has introduced a character with just one name and it's his last name, meaning that he's done every variation there is with names. even done nicknames, meaning there's no concrete pattern therefor...
So why aren't you quoting the people saying that Hogback, Kiluluk, Kureha, and Vegapunk are surnames for a fact?...
I'm not being a keyboard warrior. If I come off as rude or dismissive of an opinion, then...okay? We'll all be fine. It's not like I'm challenging you to a fistfight.Annnnd that's why this has now become pointless, once again you're just being pissey because you're on "some forum" and you're taking pride in being a keyboard warrior.

Oh no, Variah, this wasn't an invitation to debate, it's concrete. Pack it up. Go home, you're done here. It's over. Manga has shut you down completely, this isn't continuing any further because there's nothing left to do but look stupid. Curtain closed when those scans were posted, champ.

Just look demonic, you get desperate and start going off topic about fallacies just to cover up the fact that you are wrong. Watch you be one of his alts too.
