When Sasuke left the Akatsuki he basically became a "one man army" in the sense of becoming a man who was thinking outside of the box (as we see in the Revolution Chapters). I can't really deny that these two fighting together would be an interesting arc considering what Sasuke could learn from Pain since he was going through so much with Itachi but back to the topic at hand...

The biggest thing here though is that when Naruto died, it depends on the hypothetical host for Kurama. Since there is no one else in Konoha like Naruto who could take in Kurama, I would just go in favor of the Akatsuki taking a rampant Kurama back in Part 1 rather than Konoha having any spare human host lying somewhere in the gutter.

Yes, Obito can hold up a pretty even match against Nagato thanks to the unique and hax Kamui along with other techniques like Mokuton etc. Plus, Obito is very knowledgeable in the various Uchiha jutsus i.e. his own techniques, as well as Nagato's Rinnegan techniques which will only act on his side in a fight against Nagato, and will be a significant contributing factor.

Alongside Obito, Sasuke can also take advantage of this 5 sec time limit by launching a successive quick attack. Maybe, a subsequently shot Susanoo Arrow. But not so much against Nagato, because Nagato would be able to simultaneously absorb it (arguably so). Maybe a different strategy can be developed. This is about MS Sasuke or not matured EMS. A fully matured EMS Sasuke can beat Nagato.

He wouldn't need Sasuke to win but Sasuke would need him to win. I would think they would fight before the War Arc because by that time Sasuke would already have had a matured EMS

Sasuke with a fully matured EMS and PS can effortlessly hold up a fight against Nagato, or even have the upper hand in that fight considering the powers of Perfect Susanoo. Physical attacks are of real advantage against Nagato with the Susanoo especially PS is boss at, and even the immobility drawback is eliminated with PS. Sasuke is absolutely going to win against Nagato with EMS.

BTW, the War Arc time period is not specifically implied. Sasuke would have gained EMS a lot sooner if it were for a fight against Nagato.

Under these circumstances, I highly doubt a fight between Sasuke and Nagato would occur. Firstly, Nagato would only fight Sasuke for his disunion with the Akatsuki, and that is basically following the orders of Obito. If Obito doesn't command or forbid Nagato from fighting Sasuke, there is no reason Nagato would involve himself in a fight against Sasuke.

Secondly, if Nagato objects to Obito, then Obito can take care of Nagato himself. Or Sasuke can attain EMS and fight Nagato after he perfects it. And if Kabuto joins in, then Nagato would definitely die at the hands of Edo Madara.

In this entire scenario, I don't see Nagato fighting Sasuke anywhere. And if he fights, he'll get effortlessly defeated.

The biggest contributing factor here you like you pointed out is MS Obito, but we also have to factor in the other Akatsuki members that would still be alive bar Itachi, thanks to Naruto's death.

Yeah, this is a very important factor. Who the rest of the Akatsuki members side with plays a very important role in deciding the fate of this fight. And they'll most probably side with Nagato.

I can't really imagine Nagato not surviving a match-up against Obito if both teams had enough support (as in the Akatsuki backing up Nagato) and MS Sasuke (with probably Taka at his side).

I see it differently. Even if Nagato has all surviving Akatsuki members on his side, he would still have to go up against EMS Sasuke with Team Taka, MS Obito and most definitely DSM Kabuto who would also interfere in the fight in favor of Sasuke along with his Edo summons like Madara and Itachi.

Sasuke would most probably defeat Nagato.

Though most likely this would be 6POP fighting, not Nagato.
