Gosh, I'd be pissed, might even stop reading and watching Naruto for a while and not be so involved as now (= checking every week for an update). He'd already died once, fans were furious. I hope he learned from that. Kakashi is a cool, fun character. He gives the show an extra edge, just like Gai does. Our perv has gotta stay!

I think that's the point. Very few since Naruto's childhood are still alive, I mean - those of role model figures. Kakashi was the team leader; was there since the beginning, aside from Sakura and Sasuke, and he brings a certain aspect to the show.
