What would be ur thoughts on this? with modern technology and the The discovery of atomic structure has led to the development of atomic bombs, immense energy release caused by a chain reaction of in which more and more atoms are split, which are indeed quite destructive.

They can clear out towns, small cities to full fledged cities, usually a full scale nuke attack of a large AOE is usually 2.7-4 megatons in destructive power. Which is pretty damn big kaboom.

Concerning how quickly, and vastly technology is progressing, leading me to an assumption what if mankind can develop a weapon which can erase continents? Usually a small continent requires more then 1.33 Petatons of fire power. Primitively it would be considered a life wiper due to firestorms of super hot micro debris cause by the after effects of such a high scale level of attack. Which seems scary lol....it wouldn't be surprising seeing has how far recent technology has progressed. And a weapon of such magnitude could seemingly be built in the future. Idk

If mankind did have such a power would it be frightening?

And if they did will they be willing to use it?

And how would u feel if they actually decided to launch an attack like that for specific reasons? lol

It's been on my mind. Let's discuss.

It may happen eventually. The advance in technology will rise to the point where weapons that can destroy the whole of Europe are built. There would be a lot more wars for power.

i have thought of 2 ways to go about this.
1) we already have technology like but the public doesnt know about it because the government had like a 200 megapixel camera used in spy planes in the 50's that the general public doesnt even have 60 years later. so its possible they already have it and america does spend billions of dollars on the military so it wouldnt be a surprise.
2) Its impossible to do so. The laws of physics simply wont allow for such a thing to be exist

I am a chef by trade... people mistreating knives scares the shit out of me. You want to talk about bombs? Any intelligent person should frown upon even considering whether or not a weapon like that is scary. An ill-lit pumpkin in scary. This should be absolutely terrifying to any sane person. If this will be the way mankind decides to develop its trinkets. .. why stop there? Build one big enough to not wipe out continents, build one to wipe out all continents to make sure no idiot survives.

Ofcourse it would be frightening . .especially if the terrorists get their hands on it then it would be the end of human race . .but considering how fast we are progressing there is no doubt such kind of weapons will be made in near future . .which would again lead to cold war b/w countries who crave for bombs lol . .

That would be very scary. And an unnecessary weapon also. Why would one need such a weapon? Alsop if the public finds out about such a weapon chaos, pandemic, etc would happen. Very scary man

I'm feeling the thought of Schiezel's Damacleus from Code Geass: R2

However, in theory, we already have such technology. The United States alone has submarines that move around with enough Nuclear Devices to cause the end of the world. While they may not be a single weapon, the combined explosions of the Nukes can probably ice a continent, or even worse begin a Nuclear Winter...which would get that job done.

The combined Nuclear ammunition of just America alone could end the world using multiple nukes. The kind of technology you're talking about isn't far off. I wouldn't be surprised if it has been made already.

EDIT: Nukes have been around far a while. How many have been actually used? You didn't see a pandemic then, and I doubt you would see one with the technology you're talking about. The only implications of such technology is the same with Nuclear technology; the possession of such technology asserts a form of dominance and "fear" which gives a sense of stability. If people are fearful of it, they will obey. I doubt there will ever be such need for the use of this "conti-nuke" (Yes I just made that up).

funny isn't it? wars are no longer fought with soldiers, they are fought with rockets and computers.

anyway countries tend to not use their nuclear weapons even when they go to war, only if they are about to lose they will use it. in other words listen to Sun Tzu's The Art Of War: "Always leave your enemy an opening to run away".

Even if the do use multiple nukes, the current atomic power can create a destructive capacity to an AOE of a small city to city level at most. You'd need multiple nukes (with high megatons of power) to completely destroy and erase a country, small/casual islands etc. and continents are quite large.

Ending the world with a singular power based attack (mainly something that can erase conitnents in a single stroke) looks certainly more devastating, the after effects being stupendously destructive. Specially an attack that can carry many terratons and Petatons of energy. An initial life wiping attack in a single stroke, hmm terrifieing indeed I might say...

Indeed, nukes have been around for quite a while, which has lead to development such as the hydrogen and nuclear bomb, which are much more powerful than the first atomic bomb. However because of damages to the environment and atmosphere, programmes for such development has been limited and treaty are signed between major countries around the world.

The invention has both, negative and positive effects on human nature. The bad side would obviously be, the amount of destructions it causes and how it drastically effects the envoirement, and the after effects from a nuke are devastating. But mainly this ensures peace between the super powers because they know that even a war with conventional weapons could swiftly escalate into nuclear obliteration.
