What I think about Soldiers...

I'm Active Duty Army. I don't fight to kill people. I have sent rounds down range and that's all I'll say about that subject. I fight because I find the military lifestyle superior to that of others. I have endured hours of bullshit that most of you can't fathom in order to gain recognition among my peers, make my family proud, provide for my wife and sons, and set myself up for a better life after the military.

I have no issues with what this guy has to say and here's why.

1. It's an opinion and he has a right to it.
2. I'm American and I am a firm believer in freedom of speech not only for Americans but the entire world.
3. I know for a fact OP will never have the balls to state that opinion out loud to a crowd of strangers in public.
4. I know that he definitely will never have the balls to confront even the shittiest of the shitbag soldiers about how he views them as murderers. (Despite the fact that most probably haven't deployed and most of those that have probably haven't been in an actual firefight)
5. I know if by some horrible chance of nature he is foolish enough to voice this opinion to a soldier and accuse them of being murderers that he will immediately receive the beating of his life.

Sounds to me like OP has just been getting too into anime and manga. After all most of them have a theme of the main character not wanting to kill. (Trigun, Ruroni Kenshi, etc) That's fine. You shouldn't want to kill. You're a little off target there with the message but whatever. However to condemn others for fighting for a cause that they believe in whether it be what started the war or simply because they think serving their country is a duty that they feel the need to fulfill I cannot condone. You sit there and call soldiers murderers for taking life then sit back and reap the benefits of their blood, mutilation, and deaths. I'm sorry but please give this matter some more thought.

In current world, soldiers should be treated with highest respect. Sure, in completely peaceful world there would be no need for them, but if invaders from other country came to your home to rape your wife/sister/mother Im sure that you would give all your money for soldeirs from your country to protect them, and you would kiss their feet afterwards.

And unfortunately, a completely peaceful world is nothing but utopia. At least for now.

If you are working for an altruistic or righteous government, then you would be a hero.

Not really. If you truly believe you're doing the right thing for your country what you're doing isn't necessarily wrong. Honestly I have a sort of twisted respect for the lower ranking combatants because at least they're man enough to die for their beliefs even if they have been lied to by gangsters like the Haqqani and Taliban.

I'm not upset. It's you're opinion. You have every right to it. Didn't you read when I said that? Honestly I just don't take you seriously because I know you would never voice it in a live public form. Only the internet where you can maintain your anonymity. And you weren't upset at HOW I did my job only that I DO my job. I do find it cowardly to accuse someone of being a murderer behind a computer and not to their face. In fact at least in my country everyone charged with a crime has a right to face their accuser. So please next time you see someone in uniform please tell them that you view them as murderers. In fact if you truly see them as such you should get pissed when you see them walking the streets. I know if I saw Dennis Rader or Charles Manson on the street I would let them know exactly how I feel about them.

But it's also true that many people sign up misinformed and doesn't put full effort to be completely informed.

For example, I know many people that signed up for the military and yet did horrible in the most basic political science class.

How can they say that what they believe in is right without fully analyzing and understanding all the details in the political landscape?

A lot of people are just raised with the belief that you should serve your country. Nothing wrong with that. A lot of people just like the lifestyle. You get to stay active. Your job is always going to be tough. You don't have to worry about people filing a complaint about excessive swearing. You get to hang out with your best friends all the time. And by friends I mean some dudes become closer than family. I'm probably the only guy on this site that's watched a man wipe his friends ass while he was passed out drunk on the toilet. That's a friend right there lol. I know things about my friends their wives, parents, and siblings will never know. That's what I love. Some people like it. If you can put up with the bullshit double standards and sub human retardation that you have to deal with regularly more power too you.

Unfortunately there are those that we in the army call "Hoo-ah's" overly gung ho retards that get stupid army tattoo's, wear their dog tags 24/7, wear basic issue underpants, drive jeeps with a star on the hood, etc. We make fun of them regularly. Marines call them Motards. It's short for motivated retard. Don't know what the Navy and Air Force call them but every service has them. They are the lower intellect people who spread the retardation and make our jobs harder because they think that doing shit the stupid and hard way is the more professional thing to do. It's not. We hate them. Unfortunately they are the ones that typically stay in and deal with the bullshit they helped create while most of the smart people who fight against it just go to college.
