Perhaps, but there are huge differences between the 2. First off, although Kurapika's motive is vengance, there's a limit to how far he'll go and has a sense of mercy, and doesn't let vengeance consume him like Sasuke.(although I haven't gone all the way through hunter x hunter. I'm currently on chimera ants) Second, Sasuke doesn't care about being just, Kurapika does.

I don't like the audden changes of heart characters are having, i.e Oro, Sauce, Kabuto

Dont worry. Just as naruto and sasuke collapse after a long battle having just defeated madara, sasuke will turn to ameratsu naruto in the back of the head. Its just who sasuke is.
