The MTV hit show, Teen Wolf, was one of great potential and characters. But after Season 3, the ratings had hit an all-time low. Now, before I get to my opinion on why it failed to push through, I would like to start by stating that I loved the 1st and 2nd season. It was new and had a great premise.

But why did it start to fall after Season 3 or even during it? Well, I have some suggestions:

1.) Jeff Davis & the writers neglected the Sterek Fandom

Sterek was probably the biggest ship within a series with TONS of fans. I mean if you look on Tumblr, Fanfiction.Net, and even AO3, all you'll see is Sterek within the Teen Wolf Fandom section.

Jeff Davis and the writers completely neglected the Sterek fans, who was a huge part of the fandom. He baited the pairing and even took some of the suggested moments for them and used it for other characters.

Many fans got enough with the baiting, especially after Derek hooked up with Jennifer. Jennifer not only kidnapped Stiles' dad, but Derek even had her back as she did this.

So after season 3, ratings slammed, losing the Sterek fandom, which some considered as a reason why Teen Wolf survived this long. They got tired of the disrespect, even after Tyler Posey spoke against it. That is something no showrunner should ever do.

Now this is going to take the icing off the cake: The moments between Jennifer and Derek that happened in Season 3......Was supposed to be used for Sterek. But Jeff decided to scrap it for Dennifer.

2.) Less Diversity (?)

Many people began to claim that Jeff Davis was racist, because the show catered to white males while treating the characters of a minority background as a token (Despite the MC being Latino). People got pissed off with this and soon, they had enough.

I, for one, never had a problem with the concept of race when it came to the show. I just enjoyed it for what it was.

3.) Everyone is too perfect & No Real Life Issues (?)

One of the biggest complaint was the fact that everyone looked too perfect and beautiful. There wasn't a single fat character, one with acne, crooked teeth, or anything. Even the majority of the extras are all beautiful and handsome. This made fans, especially those who aren't considered "attractive enough" feel distant.

Another complaint is that there were no real issues that people are facing today (Racism, homophobia, etc.)

4.) Too many inconsistencies & characters

There are several things in Teen Wolf that just didn't make any sense. The timeline was inconsistent, many characters left the show without explanation, the pairings were beyond forced and didn't make any sense (Dennifer & Draeden I'm looking at you).

There's more issues, but I don't feel like listing them. What were your biggest issues with the show? What could the writers have done better? Please share your opinion.

Season 1 and 2 were the weakest in my opinion. Special effect were weak af, I got triggered by Tyler Posey's acting and Ledia and Styles were the only one that were good actors imo. But after season 2 it got much better. I was sad they got rid of Alison tho, she was good too. Now we stuck with a bipolar asian that doesn't know about her roots and struggles to find a way to control her Katana (stopped watching after season 5, still got catching up to do but idek if I will)

And lol styles and derek? Only chicks would watch the show if that happened, would be too cringy.

Not retarded since it's true. Plus, I'm not a Sterek fan, so there's no mean to insult me. But this was one of the biggest issues and factors as to why the ratings dropped.

Sterek has a huge fandom and it's still going strong. Many fans dropped the show during either Season 3 and/or 4.

And yes, unattractive people watch the show too. There are a lot of shows that uses extras and characters, who are deemed beautiful and flawless.

-Shadow Hunters

-The Vampire Diaries

-The Originals

You're comment is nothing, but plain ignorance.

Sterek fans got triggered hard! Even I've been annoyed by them when I use to write Teen Wolf fanfiction. They just kept pesturing me about making Sterek happen in my story. I kept telling them no, but they just kept going on and on.

I know I'm late to this train, but my ex binged the 5 seasons of this series that were on Netflix and they were usually playing in the background of whatever I was doing.

This is my opinion on why the show fell apart: There were barely any good actors in it and the premise also gets old pretty fast. In my opinion the guy who played Stiles carried the cast really hard when it came to the human and humor factors. The main character was completely unappealing to me, his acting always seemed a bit off.

Another "meh" factor is the guy who played Derek(I think his name was), his acting was horrid. Maybe it's just me since you say there's such a huge fandom, but everytime I heard his voice I cringed. It always just felt to me like he walked on the wrong set and just decided to do the lines for it anyway. I couldn't take him seriously. No hate intended tho'.

Also the writing turned a bit too stale in a "Supernatural"esque sense after a few seasons. That's the issue with series like these, since there are endless possibilities when it comes to scenarios, producers tend to milk stories until they turn into a mush of cliches and bores.

Then again, I haven't paid really close attention to everything, so take everything I said with a grain of salt.

Then you have the pointless pairings. Whenever you have a female character come in, they always have to be a love interest. Like Braedan getting together with Derek despite barely knowing one another. Then after one hot night of good ***, they love each other.

Derek didn't learn his lesson after Kate and Jennifer.

This show had a lot of potential and despite the way it ended, I still love it for the nostalgia.
