To my knowledge, the many times that this jutsu or technique has been used it never actually did anything worthy of mention.
When Neji used it against Kisame;
he just got pushed back. Nothing special really happened to Kisame and he was just fine, and even continued to grab his sword and resume to fight. It doesn't block or inflict any damage to the chakra points. It just pushes you back, which in my opinion looks like a waste of a jutsu.
Many people overhype this technique, and everytime Hinata is put into a versus battle people assume that air palm will do something of damage or inflict pain when in reality it just pushes you back and doesn't cause any type of damage.
When Hinata used Hakke Kuushou on the Juubi hand,
people want to act like Hinata did that with her own power when in fact she was enhanced with the Kyubi chakra which should be obvious considering the cloak surrounding her. If Hinata never had Naruto's chakra then she wouldn't have been able to push such a large mass out of the way considering that even Kisame ( a much smaller entity was able to tank it).
So, my question is, why did Neji only develop the air palm for two years when in reality it is a fodder level ability when it comes to feats.
