I don't think such a thing exists. I believe it is simply called racism. Some urban youth think that they can not be racist because they are black, and in the same breath say all white people are, "honkey devils".

I think currently in the Eric Garner/Michael Brown protest there is some racism going on. For example:
You must be registered for see images

Why does the sign have to read, "Black lives matter"? Why not, "All lives matter"? There have been countless black police officers that have murdered unarmed white citizens. Why is no one protesting for them? What about the Hispanics, the Indians, the Japanese, the Chinese, etc., etc. Do their lives not matter? I understand that the protests are surrounding the deaths of Michael Brown and Eric Garner, but I think people are being misguided from the bigger picture. That picture is the injustices found within the police system as a whole. It should have nothing to do about race.

However, some White people see some things as, "reverse-racism"; a word that in itself implies racism. Some whites are trying to create a word separate from the actual word racism to define prejudices, discrimination, or antagonism solely against them. That is what is wrong with society. That some members of the majority in this country want to still be separate from the other races. They want things set aside for them to describe them and to safeguard themselves against the minorities banding together. Interesting to say the least.

Here is the definition of reverse-racism:
Discrimination against members of a dominant or majority group, especially when resulting from policies established to correct discrimination against members of a minority or disadvantaged group.

Things such as Hispanic-only scholarships are reverse racism because whites(the majority of the US) can't receive them? So then there is no problem with calling women-only scholarships sexist because men can't receive them?

My question for you is, does reverse-racism exist? If yes, explain why you believe so. I am genuinely interested in this topic.

Reverse racism is when minorities( ' the oppressed ') 'act' 'racist' to white people ( 'the privileged' )

So then you didn't counter my claim. Why not just call it racism? Why invent a word singular to one group of people because they don't want to associate with the other word?

I didn't disagree with your claim, but I guess the 'popular opinion' not the dictionary definition is that racism is from the privileged to the oppressed but when the oppressed speak about the privileged its considered 'reverse'

When racism comes to mind whats the first thing you think of

Word "reverse" implies what is off with what "majority supporters" thought process. Like...they can't even call it racism, and call it something like a reaction of oppressed people as if they can not be oppressed themselves by actual means. It gotta be a tweaked version, or to say least they can not put a name.

The thing is whenever something happens to someone from minority (or women) people assume the reason is them belonging to that minority. "A cop shot a black guy" Well...people assume it is because the guy is black. And racism does exist even though people while sitting on their couches assume anti-racism is beating the dead horse. So people go overprotective at that matter.

Imo instead of saying "this is this and that is that" things should be looked in deeper persepective. The people say "black life matters" or "reverse-racism exists" both have discrimination, but not fully.

Someone being discriminated against simply due to the color of their skin. Whether it be a white guy being bullied by black guys because he's white, or vice versa.

there is no reverse racism, thats just normal racism

That's what I'm saying. Why make an entirely new word to describe racism towards a single group? That in itselft has aspects of racism.

Word "reverse" implies what is off with what "majority supporters" thought process. Like...they can't even call it racism, and call it something like a reaction of oppressed people as if they can not be oppressed themselves by actual means. I agree with you. The word reverse-racism isn't entirely racism.

Well...people assume it is because the guy is black

On this however I'd like to make a point. I can understand why people would say that in cities and areas where minorities are heavily outnumbered by the majority. As a black male, I've been racially profiled countless times in my life. At the time of it, you can really only laugh at the ignorance of it. When I think back on it, I think how nothing I could have done would have made that person stop following me around the store.

Like this one time I went to Barnes and Noble to pickup a music album for my friends birthday. I walked in and went to the music section, and almost immediately I could feel someone staring at me. I turn around and sure enough I see a sales associate staring at me from a section or two away(yes she was white). I didn't think much of it, but I continued browsing. I was in the store all of 10 minutes, and the entire time I was followed by this one woman. Every time I would look around at her, she would pretend like she was doing something else.

That shit is wrong, but it's just something that a lot of black men have gone through. It is not traumatizing, it's really just annoying. The second you walk into a store someone instantly thinks you're going to steal simply because you have a certain skin tone. It's ridiculous. Sorry for the rant.

That moment when you find a good thread but you're too late to discuss :(
Reverse-racism definitely exists. In fact, I know way more non-white racists than white racists. They're all like "white people are evil, white people are this, white people are that" and they get away with it because people either a. feel sorry for them or b. feel intimidated by their presence. Suddenly it's ok - it's cool - to be racist to white people. Martin Luther King Jr would be turning in his grave.

That is literally just racism. What part of that makes it reverse-racism besides it being towards whites?

The part where the "racist" reversers are depicted as victims and the other "Side" gets the blame, it's like a racism pass.
He used an example but it can be understood.

So you mean like how how Fox news portrays all blacks as hoodlums and thugs, and some black people blame all white people for it? I don't think anyone gets a pass when it comes to racism. In my example that would simply be racism but I don't know if I understand you 100%.

Yeah, but they don't simply say "All whites are guilty" they convey it in sneaker ways, at the end of the day you know they're racist.
Ok look bruh, this a quote I had got from another site around 4 days ago, just read.

The following post is from a white guy and may be a bit on the long side. Feel free to skip.

I was a white kid who went to a school that was predominantly black - a class of 25 kids would have 2, maybe 3 white kids total. The school was less than a mile east of where Michael Brown was killed.

What I experienced there was unmitigated racism. The white girls were referred to as "the white *****es," no matter their personality, and there was open competition among the black kids to see who could get the most of them. To be a white boy and to not adopt black culture was to make yourself a target, as I found out.

Plenty of kids, like me were, beat up repeatedly because I was white. I once got beat up because instead of listening to rap, I listened to "white people music." Another time I got punched in the gut for not agreeing that "Black is beautiful." Another time I had to fight another white kid, who to impress his black friends, picked a fight with me "because I was a cracka." Afterwords, one of our teachers told us, "Haven't you two idiots figured out that the white kids need to stick together in here?"

To prove how black they were to one another, they would do things like steal and dump my text books (which my parents were then forced to pay for), push me down the stairs, or just sucker-punch me in the hallway or locker room. To fight back against one was to incur the wrath of the group. To report what happened to the nurse or principal meant further retaliation, so I never said anything. Even if I needed to get bandaged up by the nurse, I wouldn't say who had done it. I'm sure me being a small, nerdy, poor, socially awkward white kid made me a larger target than others, but based on what they told me, it was my race that was the biggest reason. I wasn't a fast runner, so I knew that when they said, "Get the white boy," that running was useless. I can safely say that fear of going to hell was the one reason I didn't kill myself.

I went to school there during the OJ Simpson trial. I was told by more than a few kids, "If they find him guilty, we're gonna riot and kill all you white people. You've been warned, white boy."

These things went on for most of my time there. It only stopped when one day, with tears in my eyes, I picked up a knife in Home Ec and blurted out to a black kid twice my size, "Leave me alone or I'll f*****g kill you." The teacher reported it to the principal. They understood what I had done; I didn't even get detention.

Not long after that, a black kid moved into town, and he became my friend. He's one of the coolest and nicest people on the planet, and was the best man at my wedding. If not for meeting him, I am pretty sure I would hate all black people.

I've seen firsthand the anger and frustration they have in those neighborhoods, and I know better than most white people what it's like to be a victim of racism. It sucks. It's about as s****y of an existence as you could imagine. Because of my experiences, black people still make me uneasy - when I see them dressing like and acting like the same people who used to kick my white ass, I would be an idiot to let my guard down. To this day I avoid many parts of St. Louis, because I don't feel like being a victim of the knockout game.

I'm glad the "race in America" conversation is getting ramped up and is everywhere, because it's long overdue. Based on experiencing racism due to the color of my skin, I sympathize with black Americans. Based on receiving racism from their hands, I can safely say they are not simply victims, but often perpetrators. Two wrongs don't make a right. Either all racism is bad, or it's all good, and to argue that "certain racism is acceptable for X reason" is to make an argument that is itself racist. I'm glad to so much attention is being given to the issue, but the conversation needs to go more than one direction, and the change needs to come by all races, not just the whites.

It's a vicious thing that feeds itself, but it is true that "stereotypes exist because they are consistently reinforced." The stereotype of "black people are violent criminals" exists because black Americans commit violent crimes at a disproportional rate to their population percentages. This feeds the fear and mistrust that white people have towards them, which feeds into the stereotype of "whites are suspicious/afraid of black people." These actions feed policies and decisions which encourages the criminal activities of those who feel oppressed, which in turn feed policies and decisions to discriminate, and so on and so forth.

TL:DR - change needs to come from both ends at once. Let's keep talking, and not just sweep this under a rug to fester.

That is all.
