Something I wish that was really elaborated upon with in the manga. We know why the Gold & Silver bros were in possession of their sage weapons, for power, but that isn't what Itachi is about, his character isn't power hungry or driven. What made Itachi search for these God tier weapons? and for what benefit? Could it be that he was aware that Orochimaru had his eyes on them, and decided to pursuit action by removing them from dangerous hands? Was it a contingency placed for Alatsuki? or were they something he just came upon by dumb luck?

They called out to him, the weapons felt his will-the will of the solo.

Wasn't he traveling around or something and found them?

It remains to be seen how he was able to acquire them. I would guess that he was born/chosen with the ability to access them, somewhat like Indra and Ashura's transmigration.

Well, itachi needed something to use when his disease took the better of him; and because kishi always wanted a huge following of trollhards for an otherwise great character.

Nice hypothesis, you're right, it's mere speculation now. I hope down the line we get more answers with the second installment of Naruto coming afloat.

It's funny how usually some of the most likable characters have the most unlikable fanbase.

I also want to know that.
Where are they from.
Who's were they.
Who created them.
Where did Itachi find them.
How did he equip them

AND where is the Magatama?
Filler wise Shisui has the Magatama, but then were back to square one, where did he get them from etc.

I doubt we'll be seeing anything in regards to those spirit weapons in the upcoming series, as that's mainly going to focus on Boruto/Sarada and their generation.

The only way we would get to know more specifics is if Kishi was asked in an interview or something.

I'm actually interested in this

Maybe it had something to do with the choice to take a huge burden (the uchiha massacre) and not be driven to insanity. Since the uchiha are known for their emotions and that has a connection to their sharigan

He wanted to compensate for his extremely small size... of susanoo which also lacks any other decent weapon.

Didn't work still Lol

The way I see it, they were a product of Kishi's original Susanoo design. When the databook referenced Itachi's usage of MS, it stated things as if Itachi was the only user and as if it was all unique to him. Kishi designed Itachi's first, and therefore gave him his Susanoo more unqiue aspects. When he created later versions of Susanoo for his other characters, they were not as unique as Itachi's.

Itachi didn't find them, they were bound to his Susanoo when he unlocked them. These weapons in the NV are comparable to the death god in that they are not really a part of the accessible world as we might believe. Perhaps the items themselves might have been bound to a Susanoo of a previous Uchiha, and that's why they were in legend, but I don't think they were ever actually accessible by humans outside of Susanoo.

The weapons choose him. The weapons wanted him to solo everyone. Something above SO6P; something more divine; something more powerful; something more great decided to choose him. Among infinite people; Itachi was chosen. He was the capable to be chosen. Lord Itachi solo's the SO6P and 10 tail beast. He is the Solo King.

Have you wondered why SO6P came in the manga? Its because once Lord Itachi decided to go to the second life; he sent ordered so6p to go there.

You could say he kinda inherited them for all the pain and suffering he took upon himself more than anyone in the series

He might have sought them out so that they wouldn't fall into more dangerous hands. That's the kind of man Itachi was.
