Old Hiruzen has a 5 in intelligence, ninjutsu, taijutsu, and genjutsu. While his strength and speed diminished in his old age, he has still shown sharp reflexes and superb senses. He can use all 5 elements and all applicable jutsus in Konoha.

Aside from summoning, Hiruzen has shown:

Hiruzen could had avoided Kusanagi, Orochimaru asked him why he didn't, and Hiruzen replied that he'll die from Reaper Death Seal regardless so he'll take Orochimaru with him.

Hiruzen fought intelligently in that battle and only used what was necessary to conserve his dwindled chakra supply. He should actually be exalted for his skill and intelligence.

Dragon Napalm to attack all three at once and try to take Orochimaru out of the fight.
Mudslide Wall to protect from Water Dragon Missile.
Enma for support.
Shadow Clone + Reaper Death Seal for the win.
