I didn't think Madara needed any redemption. I felt nothing but remorse for the guy. He lost everything and couldn't even realize his ideologies. He was filled with nothing but failures in his life; something which we all dread to face when we die - the feelings of nothing but regret. Hence, from the point of view of a tragic hero death, his death met all the facets of tragedy. He didn't know the tablet was manipulated, he was following it because it was a part of his ancestry. I wouldn't blame Madara or any Uchiha for that as it's Hamartia.
Overall, a very rueful farewell, something Sasuke felt as well. The only thing that ruined it were Naruto's nonsensical rambles and Minato's clueless idiotic mug.
