It would be no easy match, but Pein would probably win. And that's coming from someone who likes Itachi more than Pein.

Itachi wins this. Nagato/Pain isn't exactly known for intelligence whereas Itachi would exploit each weakness he had successfully. Thinking a few steps ahead adds a bonus to the predicted battle scenario. Nagato/Pain couldn't simply keep up. Like someone said, CT is the only thing that could actually harm him since he needed Naruto's and Bee's attack to neutralize it.
