[Discussion] What do I do?

Banquet (my school's equivalent to prom) is coming up in like May or something like that. I was planning on asking one of two girls: Hannah (the girl I went with last year. She's cool, but not really interested in a relationship) and Ashley (the girl I like). I would prefer going with Ashley over Hannah, if possible. However, today in class, a guy asked one of my better friends who he is going to banquet with. He responded, "I was thinking about asking Ashley."

This is where is need some advice. Do I still ask Ashley to go to banquet and come off as a douche to my friend, who openly said he was planning on asking Ashley? Or do I ask Hannah to go with me and let Reed (my friend) take Ashley? Going with Hannah wouldn't be bad, but like I said, I would prefer going with Ashley.

All advice is welcome, even if you're trolling. lol
