he told him that becuz he knew sasuke would need naruto in the future to stop tobi.or he was telling him that becuz if he killed naruto an the fox was revived tobi would come an get it an if the nine-tails end up in the wrong hands it could mean trouble even 4 sasuke.

Hate to get repetitive... I think the Kyuubi was being extremely overconfident and cocky. I think he might have thrown the comment in there for reverse psychology purposes and would have been pleased if Sasuke actually went through with killing him... basically all i got.

probably he thought that he'd get naruto under his control earlier than the ten years he'd need to revive.

another thing he might have feared is sasuke's potential. if the fox is revived ten years later, akatsuki will hunt him down, having itachi on their side if itachi won, or the sasuke-oro would hunt him down otherwise. his chances against uchihas are better in a jinchuuriku.

that's why i think he revived naruto in the VotE.
